End of January Coffee Date

Hello from my couch, where I’m currently sidelined with a cold. I’m having one of these kind of sick days where I’m lazing around but getting stuff done around my apartment and some life admin as well. Yesterday, I just wasn’t ready to slow down and went to Dara’s class at Fhitting Room again because I can’t not if I’m free.

If we were having a glass of wine right now, I’d tell you I had a really tough week and was feeling kind of down yesterday. I went from class to an event at the Kate Spade store on the UWS celebrating their new activewear line. To be honest, I’m not sure how it would hold up to a good sweat, but it looked pretty. Afterwards, my friends and I went to Cafe Tallulah. I’m not sure I’ve ever been there other than after the NYC Marathon, so it was weird to see it sort of empty, to not see everyone I know walking in, to be able to walk and to not be wearing a poncho.

Emily’s engagement party was last night, and I was all up in my head and just wanted to sit on my couch, but I knew I’d regret not celebrating my friend. And sure enough, I had a great night and seeing my good friend so happy lifted my own spirits. I’m paying for it today for not listening to my body, but I listened to my mind, and it’s feeling better. Can’t win ’em all!

If we were having a glass of wine right now, I’d tell you how excited I am to move in a few weeks. I’ve lived in my current apartment for four years, and am just ready for a change of space. I’ve had a lot of the same furniture since just after college, so I’m also excited to start redecorating. I saw this cool site called Havenly that’s an online decorator that I might look into.

I’m also SO excited to head to the Dominican Republic on Thursday for a much-needed vacation. Though we’ll probably mostly stay at the resort, any Punta Cana must-dos?

In this running “off season,” I’m really enjoying ClassPass. (<< If you sign up through that link, we both get $20 off.) I really like to bop around to a lot of different classes, and that’s a much more affordable way to do so. My current fave studios: Row House, Fhitting Room and Mile High. (And Uplift, duh.)

New Balance had an event on Wednesday to celebrate the launch of their new studio line, and it is cute! I’m currently wearing this sweatshirt on my couch because it’s so snuggly. They also gave us these tights and these crazy studio skin wraps. You all know I’ve long been a fan of NB, but they’re really stepping up their apparel game these days.

I asked this on Facebook and Twitter — but I want to know what you’re binge watching/reading these days! Always looking for good recommendations, especially since I’m chaining myself to my couch today, and to a lounge chair this weekend. Kim recommended You Are a Badass, which I cannot wait to read.

Also, that Triangl bikini I ordered during the snowstorm? Huge nope. I’d like to get a new bikini for my trip just for funsies, so I’m online browsing and for once my boobs aren’t big enough for a suit I like. But if you’re a DD, you should get on this one.

I love posts like this. I’m currently devouring books by Elin Hildenbrand. They’re all based on Nantucket and are perfect fluffy reads.
Enjoy the DR! We head to Puerto Rico in three weeks and I can’t wait.

Be careful about the virus down in Dominican. My friend was just there and got sick. Bring bug spray.
I’m looking forward for Grease Live tonight. I’m actually buying some pairs of New Balance myself for the spring and summer from JCPenney with 10 points a mile today. Great deal.

We went to Punta Cana this summer and stayed on the resort with the exception of one excursion. We should have skipped it. The dune buggy ride was terrible, the under ground cave had soooo many people and the best part, Macao Beach, we only spent about an hour there.

Our resort was great and we really didn’t need to leave.

    Enjoy!!

Hope you’re starting to feel better! Definitely read You Are A Badass, because it’s entertaining and uplifting and because well, you are a badass lady. Have a great vacation!

Oooh, I may have to try class pass, now that you have a link for discount. I’ve been wanting to try it, but since I have an EVF Performance membership, I’ve never tried. I’m debating wether to quit the membership and go class pass and save some money…hmmm. Thanks for the link!

        @Theodora Blanchfield:
It’s fiction, but reads like non-fiction and as a 30s single gal, I loved it. I did also just finish the non-fiction spinster and did not care for it-it felt more self-indulgent than inspiring
