So, after four years in my current place, I’m moving in a few weeks. Partially, I was ready for a change, and partially NYC is (not always so) awesome and jacked my rent up so it was time to go.

I’ve had a lot of my furniture since just after I graduated college 11 years ago, so it’s time to start replacing some of it. I got a new couch last year, and I’m going to keep that, my bed and my dressers, but I’m definitely in the market for new tables — coffee, end, dining, nightstand.

I am hopelessly indecisive when it comes to home decor, which has only been made worse by Pinterest. As it is, the amount of options gives me some serious analysis paralysis. Because, hi, I have to live with my decisions. (No, I have no idea why I’m single, thanks for asking.) Plus, in a small NYC apartment, you can basically see the rest of the apartment from anywhere else in the apartment, so I feel like the color schemes need to go together.

When I moved into this apartment, I thought on a shower curtain decision for literally months. (I wish I were kidding and that I could have that time and headspace back.) I ended up picking a ridiculously cheery yellow chevron one, but I guess the indecision was worth it because it makes me happy every time I shower.

As you can see from the above mood board, my tastes are really all over the board. Tell me where you get home decor inspiration from. Two of my favorite blogs for real-people inspiration are Bows & Sequins and my buddy Emily. I love Jess’ girly, preppy style (shocker) and I like Emily’s clean lines and palettes.

Where do you get home decor inspiration? Tell me your fave blogs, sites, pinners, stores.

Congrats on the move! It’s exciting so take it all in!

I love Apartment Therapy. It may actually be worse than Pinterest.

Also love Houzz and Wayfair. For bloggers Love Taza has great style.

I get most of my inspiration from Coastal Living. We life a couple of miles from the beach, but my goal is to have it beachy and New England-y – summer year-round!

I am moving back to NYC this year and I am both excited and horrified at the prospect of finding a place to live. The city has become very renter-hostile, hasn’t it? Landlords and management companies just don’t care, because they know if you leave there are going to be 20 people clamoring to take your place and pay their stupid rent. Are you staying in the same neighborhood or venturing somewhere new?

I get lots of decor/home inspiration from The Neotraditionalist and I Suwannee — both of those ladies have a great eye and generally stick to my preferred price range. Manhattan Nest isn’t in NYC anymore, but the old posts might be helpful. Zara and H&M both have home collections that are surprisingly good. Good luck!

@Alison: Agreed. This is one of the best times of year, allegedly, though. Spring/summer are impossible.

And I’m staying in the same ‘hood! Not ready to give up walking to work and zipping home at lunch to take my dog out.
