Between the funeral, the edTech conference, and our planned weekend trip to Notre Dame…I have had a tough time fitting in all of my training miles over the past week. With my hectic schedule and this new-found (and ill-timed) aversion to my sneakers, I desperately needed a burst of running inspiration…we are way too close to the marathon to start slacking now!
I prayed about it last night.
And then today, as I arrived at work, and my dear friend(/boss), Travis, handed me the book What I Talk About when I Talk About Running. It is a memoir by the incredible Haruki Murakami, that is “equal parts training log, travelogue, and reminiscence, that covers his four-month preparation for the 2005 New York City Marathon.”
Truth, I am only about 20 pages in, but by the end of the forward, I sort of felt as if this book was written for me…or rather, for the me that is struggling with compromised confidence in the face of a rapidly approaching marathon.
Hopefully, I will collect a couple of inspiring little tidbits from this read…and I promise to share them with you all!
In the meantime, keep on running…
I just ordered this! It sounds great.
I walked into Borders the other day, coupon in hand, looking for a good novel. There were a million health/fitness books I wanted! As I was desperately trying to look for some fiction to read, I walked out empty-handed. Oh well 🙂
