Tonight, my friend Lauren and I got dinner at Penelope, an adorable little restaurant at 30th and Lex. This somewhat dark photo is of their chicken and artichoke sandwich. Per usual, I removed the top part of the sandwich to eat only the bottom and the contents of the sandwich. This does, indeed, get kind of messy. That plate in the background you see is the chicken meatball OMG (my own emphasis added) appetizer that we split. Amazing. (Not quite as good as my mom’s meatballs, but different, of course.)

Walking back from the subway on this cold winter fall night, I had a big smile on my face. Sure, my life’s not perfect, but it’s pretty damn good. I live in this great city, have some great friends and, if I do say so myself, look pretty great as of late. The one thing I love about the cold weather (one of the very few things, I hate the cold) is the red on everyone’s faces. It shows we’re alive.
