I saw this this morning on Joy Bauer’s segment on the Today Show. I had the opportunity to speak with her recently, and let me just say, she’s amazing!

She was talking about some simple swaps you can make to make holiday baked treats less bad for you.

  • Substitute pumpkin for any oil in a recipe. For example – one cup of oil? One cup of pumpkin. This can cut 1,800 calories throughout the whole recipe, she said.
  • In most recipes, you can cut 25 percent of the sugar called for without much of a taste difference. (I haven’t tried either of these yet, but they sound good!)
