I walk a lot for work (10+ miles/day) but can’t seem to get up enough endurance to run long distance. I can’t even run a mile! Any advice how to get started? Thanks!

To be honest, I was always pretty athletic, but I had gotten really lazy. I had done the Army Ten-Miler before and some 5Ks even before I started losing weight. I guess I started up again by getting in good cardiovascular shape through the other cardio I was doing. I was doing interval training on the treadmill — run for 30 seconds, walk for a minute, all at 10% incline. At first, I seriously wanted to kill myself. But I just kept plugging at it and it got easier.

Ask me anything
