7.12 miles down this morning! I ran the Valentine’s 5K in Prospect Park and then ran home through areas of Brooklyn I’d only heard of before. (I am no Brooklyn hater, but I’m not really familiar with it either…)

I ran the 5K in 28:00 (I think – we’ll see when the actual results are posted), which is only 12 seconds slower than my PR. I’ll take it! Between the less-than-healthy habits of this week and the cold weather, it was not an easy race. The cold air made it hard to get a good, deep breath (I have/had asthma) and my body just felt heavier.

I ran leisurely back to Manhattan, ending at the end of the Brooklyn Bridge and walking the three-quarters of a mile home. Back to pounding the water!
