Something to keep in mind on your next trip to Whole Foods: a recent study from Lousiana State University shows that black rice may be the next big superfood, boasting more antioxidants, fiber, and Vitamin E than blueberries.

While brown rice is still a much healthier option than its more processed and bran-less white counterpart, only black rice contains the kind of bran packed with a specific antioxidant known as anthocyanin (also found in blueberries, acai and grapes) which has been linked to the decreased risk of heart disease and cancer and improvements in memory.

I recently noticed black rice at B-bap and wondered about it—I agree that it might be the next big health craze.

Have you ever tried it? What did you think?
