Yesterday, I got into the NYC Half lottery. Before that, I’d been sort of considering running the National Marathon, which is the week afterwards.
I hadn’t thought I’d run another marathon until NYC next year, but a company contacted me about potentially sponsoring me to run the LA Marathon. Unfortunately, that fell through, but it planted the seed of a spring marathon in my head. I’d been toying with the idea of running the National Marathon after the LA Marathon fell through, but when I got into the NYC Half yesterday, I decided I’d strive for a sub-2:00 half. Liz is going to help me come up with a plan, and I’m psyched.
But I still had the idea of the National Half in the back of my mind. Then, when I got to work this morning, I saw that a GAZILLION of my health blogger buddies were tweeting about the race.
So then that happened. My plan is to race the NYC Half HARD and this National Half will just be for funsies.
So naturally I started carb-loading early at lunch.
Just kidding, we had a work Christmas party lunch.
AND I HAVE A WINNER IN MY K-SWISS CONTEST.
The winner is…
3. Britney: My favorite running memory is the first time I ran 800 meters without stopping (which happened earlier this year!). It felt like a huge accomplishment, and now I can run 7 miles which is so much further, but that 800 meters convinced me that I could be a runner.
Britney, can you e-mail me (theodora at theodorablanchfield dot com) your address and shoe size?
