This is a fight friendly debate I’ve had with quite a few people—most from New England. Last night, at a Junior League dinner at Brassserie, I ordered scallops and my wonderful co-chair, when when we started talking about them, pronounced them scollops. I was surprised, because she’s from Georgia! I was convinced it was a New England thing.
One of the people who I engaged in this friendly debate with was Lindsay’s dad, when I went up to Maine to visit them after college. It turns out both of us are right.
I also saw the tree all lit up on my way over there!
So—do you call them scallops or scollops? And if you call them scollops—where are you from?
