My Weight Loss Journey in Photos!

If you’ve read this blog since the beginning, you saw my journey as it unfolded. If you’ve only started reading recently, you may have seen my before and after pics. But a reader recently asked for me to do a post showing pictures from my journey, and I liked the idea.

So, below you’ll see pics of my journey as it unfolded as well as my best guess of my weight at the time. (I wish I had been a little better at documenting my weight on here, but c’est la vie. Also, sorry for the crappy quality of some of these pics.)

Start: February 2009, 189 pounds

April 2009, approximately 6 weeks in, 169 pounds (whoa! I forgot I dropped weight that quickly). I remember that this dress was a size 14, and it didn’t fit when I started, but fit at this point, and I was psyched.

May 2009, 164 pounds. These pants were a size 12, and they were huge, but I still wore them because they hadn’t fit the summer before, and I was excited to wear them. This is right around when I started loving shopping again 🙂

Also May 2009. The first size 8 I was able to fit into. It didn’t fit well, but it zipped, so I was thrilled.

June 2009, probably about 160 pounds. Wanting to lose weight to be confident in Aruba as a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding is how I started this journey, and this is the bridesmaid’s dress. I ordered it around when I started losing weight, in my size then, so when it came in June, it was HUGE. The tailor had a lot of work to do! (I lost even more weight in the 6 weeks between this and the wedding, so it still ended up being too big at the wedding.)

July 2009, 157 pounds. I remember feeling SO badass in this outfit.

Late August 2009, 150 pounds, maybe? I had dinner with my old boss and she took a picture of me to show her husband how much weight I’d lost! I felt so confident here. It’s so nice to finally be able to wear tank tops and not want to wear a cardigan over them.

September 2009, 145 pounds, Junior League homecoming. This was our beginning-of-the-year party, and I remember seeing friends I hadn’t seen since the year before, and EVERYONE telling me how good I looked. It was awesome.

October 2009, maybe 143 pounds. I’m going to stop guessing on weight here, because I was only within a few pounds of my goal weight at this point.

November 2009

December 2009

February 2010. Definitely at my goal weight!

  • You look so hot in that final photo! You're definitely inspiring me. I need to lost 10 pounds before the Chicago Marathon, and if you could do what you did, I can surely lose 10, right?

  • Wow... congratulations really. That pic in the black dress sept '09 I think is outstanding. Hot mamma!
Just found your site and have bookmarked you :)

    Thanks!

  • I just found here such a great inspiration for weight loss!!! Thanks for sharing these personal pictures of your changes - you really have achieved a lot and you look great! I also remember myself loosing just some pounds - it gives really great feeling, you get compliments, your self-confidence get's higher and you suddenly are able to enjoy the life more. And that's when you understand that losing weight is not just about how you look, but even more about how you feel and how strong is your mind to achieve it. Thanks!

  • Those pictures are incredible, and pretty inspirational. I hope one day I manage to demonstrate the motivation you have shown here. Well done :)

  • Hi Theo,
Wow... This is an inspiring weight loss story and I like your blog. We need people like you nowadays who promote proper weight loss and healthy living. Btw, I'm Laura Wood, a fitness advocate. I am a 40-year old mother to two lovely girls.

I work a full-time job that includes some travel. After I had my second daughter I was frustrated and depressed about the way my body looked and felt.

I couldn't get back to where I was. I started to look for a way to get in shape and shed those unwanted pounds from pregnancy but going to the gym was not in the budget at the time.

I began my fitness journey just 3 years ago. On July 4, 2010 I began a fitness challenge which changed my life. I felt great and now I'm a 100% fitness advocate like you.

  • I just wanted to thank you for the inspiration from your beautiful weight loss blog. I am just in the process of starting up a blog about how healthy meals can be appetizing, and it is truly fascinating to look at the way your site is set up. I want to be as inspirational to my visitors as you have been, so thanks again for being so helpful.
