I’ll be 30 at the beginning of next year. Or, I mean, 29 again.
While a wise friend has convinced me that life does actually go on at 30 (and that I can continue to PR in races), I’m trying to make this last year of my 20s particularly awesome.
So far, so good.
But a fun night tonight convinced me that maybe I need to let loose a little more often. After all, nobody ever said, I wish I sat at home more, right?
I moved to NYC in the summer of 2008 and started this whole “healthy thing” in February 2009. For the first year, I was trying (and succeeding at!) losing 50 pounds. Since then, I’ve spent most of my time training for races. I enjoy cocktails, but always in moderation…on work nights.
But tonight? Tonight I had a ridiculously fun Junior League meeting.
We held our last meeting of the year at Tortilla Flats–a tradition three years running.
Tonight just happened to be bingo night.
And I just happened to win! Which means I won this hot t-shirt and a round of tequila shots for our table.
Thank god for fajitas.
This place is so cheesy, but I love it.
We stayed so long that Erin, one of the girls on my committee, also won.
Since I would like to be a responsible adult at work tomorrow, I sneakily handed off my shot to the table behind me.
Once we finally went to leave, it was pouring out and none of us had umbrellas, so we headed back to our table for another pitcher of margaritas.
I walked the 1.2 miles home and now am going to chug a million glasses of water before going to sleep.
Worth it.
No idea why I chose Frank Sinatra lyrics to name my last post on this…

A lot of water and a couple ibuprofen now and you'll be good by morning. :)
:) Get some rest and you will be good to go in the am!
This restaurant was just on Bethanny Ever After. So funny that you were just there! looks like a great place to go to with friends
Advance 30th birthday and congratulations for your win. I like your t-shirt. Tequila is really great to drink. Bingo night gives a lot of fun and winnings.
Wise friend says, just wait until you see how great the 30s are... seriously the best years!
And a night at Tortilla Flats is always a fun night!
I refuse to turn 30 next year. flat.out.refuse.
Totally worth it. And as someone who is thoroughly enjoying 32, the 30s are where it is at. I have never been happier.
@Meghan: Considering I don't have a choice in this whole "30s thing," glad to hear it :)
Going out on a week night every now and then is totally worth it!
I totally saw that restaurant on "Bethenny Ever After" this week (perhaps I should be ashamed of that). Apparently if I ever get around to visiting New York I need to add this to my list of restaurants!
Trust me, life goes on.
I just turned 30 and looking back I am in better shape (physically, emotionally, mentally) than I was at 25, 21, or even 18.
Plus I am more comfortable and confident with who I am.
Just like fine wine, I've matured and aged well;)
You will too!
And you wrote up this post that well?? lol
So glad you had a great time! I turn 30 at the end of August, and I'm looking forward to it! I hear your thirties are so much better than your 20s!
