I’m working long hours and am really busy outside of work, so I’m all about the small pleasures right now.
Here’s a few things that are making me happy right now.

Green Tea. I am a coffee person through-and-through, though I gave it up last year when I was unemployed and my stomach hated me. A few months ago, I felt myself falling into a second-cup-in-the-afternoon habit, which is obviously just a gateway drug to…more coffee? But sometimes in the afternoon, I just want a snack or to take a walk, and then I get distracted by Starbucks. The other day, I decided to grab an iced green tea. I vaguely knew they were good for me but wasn’t really sure why. Turns out it has lots of antioxidants and stuff and–at least anecdotally–it’s good for anxiety too because of the L-Theanine present. It’s part attitude, but I’ve felt so much calmer this week. Green tea?
Eye Gel. I think Ashley blogged about this a few weeks ago, and as soon as I read that, I realized that, shit, I’m turning 30 in February. Perhaps I should invest in a good eye cream? Luckily, I was going to Mohegan Sun where I could dip into Sephora after a few glasses of wine and buy some. Tipsy makeup shopping? Best part of Mohegan Sun.
Moccasins. I had a huge campaign launching on Cyber Monday at work, and I was incredibly stressed. Some people read celebrity gossip when they need a little break, and some people buy moccasins? These are Minnetonka, because I wasn’t about to spend $100 on a pair of slippers for Uggs, but these make my feet so happy walking to work. Or any time there’s nobody in the office.
BB Cream. I got a sample of this Dior BB cream when I bought the eye stuff, and I love it. It’s so much lighter than the foundation I usually wear…and so much more expensive. Fail.
What are your favorite things right now?
No idea why I chose Frank Sinatra lyrics to name my last post on this…
As I mentioned in my last post, I've really been going through it with headaches.…
(tw for diet culture talk—mostly how it's BS, but how it's affected me, too) This…
I have been thinking about this post for a while—on why diet culture is unhealthy…
I woke up this morning already feeling anxious. (Yay!) My standard iPhone alarm is set…
I read The Midnight Library over the weekend, and I need to talk about it.…

I love BB cream... Garnier has awesome stuff for like $10 just so you know :) not too bad of an investment
@Katie @ Katie Moves: Ooh! Worth a try, for sure.
I am totally buying those Minnetonka moccasins for when I start work in the fall. When I was at my firm this past summer my feet were always freezing if I stayed there late into the evening, even in the summer, and few people were there to judge me choosing comfort over style anyway.
I just wrote a 'things that make me happy' post that reminds me of this! I love everything you posted.
I'm glad you like the eye gel. Promise you, try the Cover Girl/Olay BB cream! :)
Tell me more about this eye gel. I turned 16 (hrmph30hrmph) in October and I think I'm starting to look....weathered.
I also love BB cream, try Garnier- much cheaper!! Isn't it too cold for iced drinks? I am all about the mulled cider and spiced lattes!
I might have to head to Sephora to buy some of that eye cream myself!
Yeah for Minnetonka - made in Wisconsin!
It's never too early to start using good face products. I'm a firm believer in face serum, a good cream, eye cream, and night-time cream and eye balm. Bobbi Brown is my favorite.
I have those minnetonka shoes and love them! I got a pair for my bf a few weeks ago and he never takes them off.
My Ugg boots - a gift, because I can't bear the price tag - sit atop my Fave Things list when the weather turns chilly. Joining them in the top five right now are:
St. Arbucks Peppermint Mocha Via; instant happy.
The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector; soothes dry skin like nothing else.
Curry powder on popcorn; seriously, try it.
Running in a Sport Kilt. I've become that girl who runs in a kilt, and it makes me smile.
