OMG, three-day weekends for the win.
I’ve had a really good weekend already, and I still have another day and a half!
Friday night: Restorative yoga at Laughing Lotus. It was basically a 90-minute nap, and I loved it. I think I’ll probably do a separate review of it, because I have a lot more to say about this.
Saturday morning:
Ran 6 miles with Fiona in Central Park. I love my buddy the West Side Highway but am a little burnt out on it, so it was nice to run in the park. Minus the hills completely kicking my ass. Also, see that little screenshot? Yeah, I have no idea where my Garmin charger is, which shows how serious I’ve been about running lately. I ran with my phone in my pocket and didn’t look at it once while I was running, so I was happy to see this pace when I was done.
I met my college roomie Jen for lunch afterwards at Lucien in the East Village. Operation Go Places Below 14th Street More For the Win.
I had eggs florentine for lunch, and they were fabulous. We stayed and chatted for hours. The last time I saw her, we vowed to hang out more. Only 5 weeks later? Not too shabby.
I also talked her into the Franklin Lakes Triathlon that I plan on doing again this June. Race pushing for the win.
At night, I went to Las Ramblas, a small tapas bar in the Village, with Lacey and Shannon. There was a wait when we got there, so we went down the street to get a drink and they called us when our table was ready, and we came back.
I don’t know how we didn’t take a picture, but we drank the best strawberry cava sangria.
We split a whole bunch of tapas, including:
Croquetas!
Charcuterie
Skewers of duck sausage, quail eggs and pearl onions. Mom, you’d love this, right??
We loved the ambiance of the small restaurant–and the sangria didn’t hurt–and lingered for quite some time, catching up and laughing.
The night ended at 8th Street Wine Cellar, where this lovely lady who was in town dropped by!
Somehow, despite only getting 5 hours of sleep, I rallied and made it to a 9:30 Soul Cycle class for Kristine’s birthday. I don’t really drink the Soul Cycle kool-aid and wasn’t super-crazy about the class, but it was still nice to do something different. It’s funny–when I first started working out after college, I LOVED spin, but now it’s completely take it or leave it for me.
How was your weekend? What new workouts have you tried lately? How do you feel about spin?
No idea why I chose Frank Sinatra lyrics to name my last post on this…
As I mentioned in my last post, I've really been going through it with headaches.…
(tw for diet culture talk—mostly how it's BS, but how it's affected me, too) This…
I have been thinking about this post for a while—on why diet culture is unhealthy…
I woke up this morning already feeling anxious. (Yay!) My standard iPhone alarm is set…
I read The Midnight Library over the weekend, and I need to talk about it.…

Oh Wow my favorite quail eggs! I'm still not feeling well, with catching a slight case of the Flu, but I'm on the mend
Leave some nights open for me I would love to have dinner and some wine and fun! But can I pick the restaurant? I'm only saying I'm tired of guail eggs.
Mom
Jealous you get a three day weekend! My work only honors half of the federal holidays. Looks like you made it an active weekend too. :) My weekend so far included hockey, going out and two mornings of sleeping in past noon. Lazy for the win!
I agree, 3-day weekends are a definite win! Especially since I kept forgetting about this one, so every time I would remember, I was excited all over again. Even this morning when I was waking up, trying to figure out what day it was, all of a sudden I remembered I have tomorrow off, too, and I was super happy again!
I love spin, mostly because it breaks the time up into tiny intervals of doing different things, so it seems like it goes fast. Plus it kicks my butt, which I love!
I recently tried Pound. Rockout Workout. It is so much fun! And a great cardio all-around workout. The music is very loud and you pound your weighted "ripstix" (drumsticks) the whole time to the beat. It's a terrific stress reliever and nice change. Best of luck training for your race in June.
You are having a great weekend! The restaurants look fabulous, and nice job on that pace without even watching it. I'm enjoying a long weekend too, and it feels awesome!
I absolutely love Spin! But it definitely depends on the instructor to keep it fun, interesting, and intense!
@Aurora@Fitness is Sweet: And the music! I didn't know much of the music today so I couldn't get too into it.
Shew! Great for you. No new work outs buttt I did suck it up and got 5# weights from Target today, so going to be breaking those in ASAP.
But yeah, not such a huge spin fan. I love BIKING, but I hate those stationary things. Round and round and round and round. Like the dreadmill. I just don't like staying in place I guess! Lol
I must admit I'm awfully jealous of your 3 day weekend...and anyone who's got one but I was happy to have a 2 day weekend (Fri & Sat). I'll take what time off I can get! ;)
OOO! I should look into the Franklin Lakes tri!
@Ashley: YES!
I have taken a spin class once. I liked it and could see myself getting into it. Maybe I will try it out again if I ever get a gym membership again. This post makes me miss New York. I really should go visit my sister there.
