Monday Didn’t Suck

Last night, my coworker Amy texted me to ask if I wanted to take a yoga class this morning.

She’s pretty anti-yoga, so I couldn’t turn her down. Plus, after the Brooklyn Half, I wanted some yoga. I was barely sore, but I knew it was a good idea. 

We went to Yoga Shanti, and the class was just the two of us. The instructor, Jodie, gave us lots of personal attention, and got me deeper into every single freaking pose. This is the second of these “open” classes I’ve taken, and they’re interesting. Although sometimes I think they move too slow for my liking, or that I’m not crazy about holding poses for so long, I still end up melting into my mat by savasana, so they’re still just fine by me. 

At work, my standing desk arrived today! The Varidesk people reached out to me to see if I wanted to review one. I’d been using a super-classy plyo desk once in a while, so this was a huge upgrade. I’ll do a more in-depth review soon but I like it already, though it’s a bit of an adjustment. What I love the most so far is that it’s completely adjustable, so if I want to sit, I can lower it. My lower back hurt a little, but I feel like it must be one of those things where it hurts in the short-term getting adjusted, but makes things hurt so much less in the long term.

I worked late to get caught up on some stuff and then Ms. Jen and I met up for a little walking date with our pups.

Oh, and I decided to do a Hamptons share and another long weekend away today, so Monday didn’t suck at all today.

And I’m going to work out like a ninja tomorrow. I’m currently brainstorming how to dress for that. I don’t think sparkly headbands count.

  • I know what you mean about holding poses for an extended length of time, I can start to get real wobbly after a while! I can't imagine making the switch to standing up instead of sitting down...I salute you! (My blog: http://hippotohot.blogspot.com)

  • ahhh i need to stop just reading about people doing yoga and actually get myself to a yoga studio! it's been on my DIN list for, like, 3 years. whoops. have fun with the standing desk, looks pretty sweet. my Monday was great -- workout, work, HH with the girls in the W Vill, 10pm bedtime to wake up for a great run today. enjoy your day!
