Things have been a little heavy up in here, so let’s just talk about some things I’ve been loving lately, eh?
Pre-Workout: Amanda first introduced me to this magic at the Runner’s World Half in Boston. I tried the Vega Pre-Workout Energizer then and LOVED it – both for the taste and the energy it gave me without upsetting my stomach or making me too jittery. I love my coffee, but my sensitive stomach cannot handle coffee before running. For workouts less than an hour, I don’t usually eat first, so a pre-workout drink is a good way to get in some calories/energy without negating what I’m about to burn. Recently, my company came out with our own pre, and I’m even more addicted. Pre + workout + coffee = basically the perfect morning. The focus I get from that combination is INSANE. Without jitters – since I’m also kind of sensitive to too much coffee.
Clinique Moisture Surge: Ashley introduced me to this moisturizer years ago. Now that I’m in my 30s, I generally go for an anti-aging moisturizer like Clinique’s SuperDefense, but the moisture surge is the perfect summer moisturizer that’s not too greasy. (How is summer over in two weeks? I don’t want to talk about it.)
This StitchFix (*referral link*) dress. I’ve been doing StitchFix since November or so and typically keep about one piece per box. They are SUPER hit or miss. But this dress? Love. It is flattering whether or not I feel bloated or whether I feel awesome about myself, and I try not to wear it every day, even though I want to. It’s also super comfortable. I can wear it with Jack Rogers, or, in theory with a nicer shoe, but I try to not take my Jacks off all summer. (And no, I have no idea why I’m making that face. I had probably only had one glass of wine at that point.)
Babich: This is my favorite wine ever, and I love it even more when it’s warm out. Mark my words, one day I will take a pilgrimage to New Zealand to travel the countryside and drink sauvignon blanc for a week straight. (Which wouldn’t be too different from NYC, just in a prettier place.)
The November Project. It is super fun…and just not super convenient to me, and I can be fairly lazy. There are a million fitness studios in this city, but unless I have heard it is the best thing since sliced bread or am going to some event there, if it’s out of the Flatiron area, I probably won’t drag my butt there. Which means that I’ve been to November Project only a few times since it’s not convenient to me, especially not at 6:28 am. They did an evening one tonight, and yeah, I was able to make that, and drag my coworker Alex. I ran into lots of running buddies, and we ran downtown to Park Avenue Tavern. Awesome way to spend a Sunday evening.
Life. I’ve also just been loving life lately. I’m really freaking happy. Maybe I’ve mentioned that once or twice.
One thing I’m not loving lately: fried summer hair. Any good recommendations for (inexpensive, please – fancy stuff never works on my hair) shampoos/conditioners that help fried hair?
What have you been loving lately?

I'm coming with you to NZ. I am OBSESSED with NZ sauvignon blanc these days. And I'm with you on the happiness train! :)
This summer I've loved lots of hiking. I did a trip with my sister to Peru and did the Inka Trail to Machu Pichu. My husband and I climbed Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Our local brewery created their own Radler which is light beer with grapefruit juices - like a Fresca but better! I loved your lobster roll!! A student gave me lobster as a "teacher gift" one year and I made the best ever lobster roll to kick off summer vacation. As always, I love your honesty in your blog.
You are the second person in the past few days to comment that you've hiked Macchu Picchu! A lobster as a teacher gift sounds like the best teacher gift ever. I think I just gave Best Teacher Ever mugs when I was in school :)
Coconut oil. Your hair needs coconut oil. Mix a tablespoon with like a tablespoon of honey and warm it in microwave for like 10 seconds. Then put it on your hair while your hair is dry - all over the ends and everywhere....Let it sit at least 20 minutes or for like an hour (I don't think you need overnight but some people do it)...Then wash it out. Amazing. And cheap. And works.
Seriously do we have the same stomach??? That is exactly my problem, so annoying with the coffee love love love the flavour, and the ritual, but really can't do more than one cup without getting serious shakes. #facepalm
Is Daily Burn available in Europe? Also related to being in Europe, love the dress... It looks great on you.
for your hair-- stop washing it! mine was looking frizzy and limp (which, yes, unfortunately is possible), the color was drab, etc. And my roommates told me to stop washing it. It took a little while to get used to it (more mental than anything) and now that I've stopped washing it (even though I work out) it looks so much healthier! If I don't swim, I can go up to a week without washing it. Otherwise I just wash it when I swim. Other than that, dry shampoo is my best friend. Now, I like my hair best on the 3rd day of not washing. It has way more body (from the sweat I think) than normal.
Can I join you on your trip to NZ, because that sounds amazing! I am loving summer, eating all.the.fruit, my new Lulu spandex shorts, wearing my hair in a top knot, and being a few days away from my fourth half marathon!
That StitchFix dress is so cute -- it looks great on you!
Love that you're loving life :)
