Things I’ve Loved Lately: Summer Edition

Things have been a little heavy up in here, so let’s just talk about some things I’ve been loving lately, eh?

Pre-Workout: Amanda first introduced me to this magic at the Runner’s World Half in Boston. I tried the Vega Pre-Workout Energizer then and LOVED it – both for the taste and the energy it gave me without upsetting my stomach or making me too jittery. I love my coffee, but my sensitive stomach cannot handle coffee before running. For workouts less than an hour, I don’t usually eat first, so a pre-workout drink is a good way to get in some calories/energy without negating what I’m about to burn. Recently, my company came out with our own pre, and I’m even more addicted. Pre + workout + coffee = basically the perfect morning. The focus I get from that combination is INSANE. Without jitters – since I’m also kind of sensitive to too much coffee.

Clinique Moisture Surge: Ashley introduced me to this moisturizer years ago. Now that I’m in my 30s, I generally go for an anti-aging moisturizer like Clinique’s SuperDefense, but the moisture surge is the perfect summer moisturizer that’s not too greasy.  (How is summer over in two weeks? I don’t want to talk about it.)

This StitchFix (*referral link*) dress. I’ve been doing StitchFix since November or so and typically keep about one piece per box. They are SUPER hit or miss. But this dress? Love. It is flattering whether or not I feel bloated or whether I feel awesome about myself, and I try not to wear it every day, even though I want to. It’s also super comfortable. I can wear it with Jack Rogers, or, in theory with a nicer shoe, but I try to not take my Jacks off all summer. (And no, I have no idea why I’m making that face. I had probably only had one glass of wine at that point.)

Babich: This is my favorite wine ever, and I love it even more when it’s warm out. Mark my words, one day I will take a pilgrimage to New Zealand to travel the countryside and drink sauvignon blanc for a week straight. (Which wouldn’t be too different from NYC, just in a prettier place.)

The November Project. It is super fun…and just not super convenient to me, and I can be fairly lazy. There are a million fitness studios in this city, but unless I have heard it is the best thing since sliced bread or am going to some event there, if it’s out of the Flatiron area, I probably won’t drag my butt there. Which means that I’ve been to November Project only a few times since it’s not convenient to me, especially not at 6:28 am. They did an evening one tonight, and yeah, I was able to make that, and drag my coworker Alex. I ran into lots of running buddies, and we ran downtown to Park Avenue Tavern. Awesome way to spend a Sunday evening.

Life. I’ve also just been loving life lately. I’m really freaking happy. Maybe I’ve mentioned that once or twice.

One thing I’m not loving lately: fried summer hair. Any good recommendations for (inexpensive, please – fancy stuff never works on my hair) shampoos/conditioners that help fried hair?

What have you been loving lately?
