Dunkin Donuts + Almond Breeze = The Best Pairing Since Will and Kate

This post is sponsored by Almond Breeze and was written pre-coffee. The author cannot be held responsible for sentiments expressed without caffeine.

Right??

A few years ago, I had to give up coffee for a few months, and it was a dark point in my life with no happiness. I’m only slightly exaggerating.

I love everything about coffee—the way it warms me up inside, the morning ritual of it, and, obviously, the pep in my step it gives me. Ask my parents, my coworkers or my good friends, and they’ll tell you: you do NOT want to see pre-coffee Theodora.

And since I grew up in New Jersey, I have mad love in my heart for Dunkin’ Donuts, and it’s really my favorite coffee. You can keep your fancy French-pressed coffee and bla bla bla artisan coffee, but I love me a good cup of Dunkin’ and will even walk out of my way in the morning to get it. (That’s saying a lot for this lazy at heart girl.) Those seven years in DC were a dark time; Dunkin’ only started getting a hold on that market my last year there. Until then, I’d drive over to Capitol Hill or out to Arlington to get some. In college, when there were even fewer, friends and I took special pilgrimages during finals out to Maryland and Virginia to find our beloved DD.

But since I largely gave up dairy a few years ago, my only beef with the DD was their lack of non-dairy milk options. I can tolerate some milk in my coffee, but I really prefer non-dairy, and almond at that.

WELL! Clearly I’m not the only one, and Dunkin’ Donuts finally listened, and is now providing Almond Breeze at select locations.

You can go to their store locator to see if your location is one of them (that little AM will denote that it is.)

My drink of choice? French vanilla with Almond Breeze. Boom.

Happy National Coffee Day.

What’s your coffee drink of choice?

  • Wow! I'm glad they are doing that! I love flavored coffees- currently loving raspberry chocolate!

  • I love everything about coffee! We don't have DD in Canada and Tim Hortons is the coffee of choice, but I usually make my own. I have a grind and brew with a timer which is key inthe mornings and I add Silk creamer. My fall Starbucks treat is an Americano with soy and 1 shot of pumpkin.

  • I'm a decaf soy latte girl... not from DD. ;-) I grew up in Massachusetts, where a DD obsession is totally normal and expected. During ALL family gatherings, I swear half of the usual crowd arrives with a DD cup in hand.

  • Ha. I need my morning cup (or two or three) too...Love Dunkin but lately enjoy Starbucks too. When the drive-thru DD first starting popping up on the island, I would make it a road trip for myself when my son was a baby just to have the destination so he could nap in the car. Now there is one on every corner but sometimes I was driving thirty minutes for coffee lol.

  • I make my own snobby coffee at home, but when I treat myself I usually go to a local place that has almond milk. Now I can swing by DD! There are three on my 10 minute commute to work...

  • Great article, I actually managed to give up coffee in January and replaced it with smoothies. I was on about 5 coffees a day! Not good! I found that adding avocados in my diet especially with breakfast really got rid of that coffee craving.

I will say also that Almond milk is amazing. I drink it a lot these days.

  • Jersey girl who loves her Dunkin as well! I have the K Cups for when I am lazy and make it at home even :)

I have 3 DD within a couple blocks of work and each one knows me and my order and by the time I get to the counter they have it ready - I was all over the almond milk the day it came out! I steer clear from dairy as much as possible so was so happy when they announced it!

  • Inspired by you, I went to check it out today and SUCCESS! The Dunkin on 41st street in Hampden has almond milk... life complete.

  • What a great article! Like you, I just love DD coffee and their donuts - but unlike you, I could never give up my coffee. I drink buckets of it every day, and I can give up pretty much everything else except my coffee. I'm in Budapest at the moment, for a couple of months, and the DD near the main railway station doesn't have almond milk. . .. yet!
