Looking Forward: RNR DC + RNR Brooklyn!

1. Did you see they announced RNR Brooklyn?!

October 10. On my calendar. Three weeks before NYCM. (I’m thinking this will either be part of a 20/22 or I’ll do one last 20/22 the week after and do a two-week taper. We’ll see where my fitness is in seven months.)

I already took a look at the course map, and, well, it involves a lot of out-and-backs, which I’m not crazy about, but I am crazy about most any NYC race. So, there’s that. It will be an awesome way to psyche myself up for NYCM. (Like I will need any help with that.)

2. RNR DC

Yeah…that’s the plan.

While I started running much more regularly this winter than I did last year, in no way did I nail my training. Or anywhere close. Work has been a priority and the weather has sucked, and running in the cold/snow are about as fun to me as running on the treadmill. Though I did a bunch of treadmill runs, I finally hit a point last week where I could. not. any more. So, there’s no PR happening in DC this weekend. But I’m really going to challenge myself to not just “run for fun” like I’ve been doing with so many races in the past year or so, and give it the best effort I have that day. Even if it rains. Even if it is that time of the month. (The likelihood of both of those things is near 100%. Ideal race conditions!)(Also, I need to coordinate my race calendar better with my cycle.)

Are you running a race this weekend? What races are you looking forward to?

  • I was wondering if/when that RNR would be! I am definitely considering it for my fall races now. Thanks for letting us know when it is!

  • It just never fails that Aunt Flo wants to be at a race. Like, c'mon! Cheer for me the week BEFORE! Haha

  • i'm really excited about RNR brooklyn. i ran RNR dc and its a great run. good luck!

  • I'm not going to like, RNR Brooklyn is super tempting - I'm just not certain I can swing two NYC trips in less than a month, especially since I'll be in town this weekend for the NYC Half. Have a blast in DC, girl!

  • Good luck this weekend! Can't wait to hear about the race. I'm sad I'm missing out, can't believe it has already been a year since I ran it.

  • Good luck this weekend!! My half was Sunday. :)

I got that email about RNR Brooklyn and it came out seriously perfect timing - I want to run a half in NYC and was thinking I'd have to wait til the NYC Half in spring 2016... do you think this course will be hilly?

  • I will be running #rnrdc as well and I know what you mean about the treadmill. I am so happy for warmer temps this week! I'm not doing brooklyn because the staten island half is the day after and I also am running NYC in november.

  • Ugh yes, it is supposed to rain! I was supposed to run the race but then injured my foot, so now I'll be volunteering instead. If I see you I will cheer you on!

  • I'm running the DC RNR this weekend, my first marathon!!!! Good luck to you :)
