I’ve partnered with Munchery for this post. You’ll definitely understand why after you read this post!
A few weeks ago I got an email asking if I wanted to check out Munchery, a new meal delivery service that just launched in NYC. As a busy single working professional, the answer was obviously yes!
I typically work until at least 7, and by the time I get home and walk Bailey, the last thing I want to do is take time to cook something that takes a long time. I’ll typically throw together something quickly or Seamless more often than I’d like to admit. I am Seamless’ number one fan, and after years of eating healthily, I know how to scan a menu for healthier options, but you still don’t really know what you’re getting.
Munchery is a startup that launched in San Francisco last year and delivers fresh, pre-made meals. There’s typically about eight to ten meals to choose from daily, and you can select your meal up to a week in advance. They employ their own chefs, so all of their meals are developed in-house, with chefs coming from places like Pure Food and Wine and Daniel.
I know I’m not alone in having allergies and other dietary restrictions, and their site makes it really easy for you to find what’s, for example, nut-free or dairy-free.
And if your allergy isn’t a typical one, they list out all ingredients, so you know exactly what you’re getting.
Though I don’t count calories, I do like having a general idea of what I’m eating, so I like that they are very transparent about the nutrition facts of their meals.
The above information, FYI, was for a thyme-roasted striped bass. And the meals and the service are both really reasonably priced, too. Most meals range from $9-15, but with most between $9-12. If you’re a grazer, which I sometimes am, you can also just get a few sides. While the delivery fee ($2.95) is more than Seamless, I think it’s well worth it for fresh, delicious food that I didn’t have to make.
I’ve so far tried out Munchery for two meals — a honey-tea braised chicken thigh and sushi.
This was DELICIOUS! And I was able to prepare it in the microwave within five minutes for less than 700 calories, I believe.
My ONLY gripe with Munchery is that it’s not the best option for a last-minute dinner — you do need to plan a little further in advance or things will sell out. The company was kind enough to hook me up with some credit, but there is no doubt in my mind I will be using this on nights that I want a better option than Seamless.
If you live in NYC, San Francisco or Seattle (their current three markets), you can get $15 in credit to try it by using this link: https://munchery.com/redeem/PreppyRunner or just the code PreppyRunner.
What are your biggest meal prep/dinnertime hurdles? Would you try a service like this?

I don't know that they'll be in Minneapolis anytime soon, but I would totally try this! Yum!
THIS sounds amazing! So so delicious!
3 sponsored posts for the win! , I'm going back to reading blogs where content is king and the freebies are more deserving.
You know what, you do make a fair point about a lot of sponsored posts recently. I've been trying to write more regular posts, too, to make up for the sponsored opportunities I've been getting recently and just to get more back into blogging in general. Thank you for your feedback.
please come to virginia.
Me or Munchery? ;)
I'm not sure how much I would use it if I knew that I had to order it in advance. I feel like 9/10 the reason I order out is because I'm exhausted or just wasn't prepared for how the day ended up. Are the meals completely fresh or do they arrive frozen?
@Jillie: yup! They arrive fresh.
700 calories seems crazy for a week night dinner!
