NYC Restaurant Reviews

One of my favorite things to do in NYC is go out to eat, and like most New Yorkers, I do an awful lot of it.

Here’s some of the places I’ve written about here, organized by neighborhood. As I eat out a lot (and have written about quite a few places on here), this is a constantly-evolving page. Let me know if there are any restaurants you’d like to see on here. If I haven’t been, maybe I can go. You know, for you.

Financial District:

Stella: an bistro that blends French, Argentinean and Asian cuisines; 213 Front Street

Ulysses: an Irish pub on Stone Street. Decent food, fun vibe during the summer when you can sit outdoors; 95 Pearl Street

Vintry Wine & Whisky: oh, only my favorite wine bar ever. This cozy little wine bar is way too cool for the Financial District; 57 Stone Street

Cowgirl Seahorse: an eclectic little American/Tex-Mex restaurant; 259 Front Street

Stone Street Tavern: pretty much what it sounds like. A tavern. A great post-NYC Half brunch spot, though; 52 Stone Street

Il Brigante: Cozy little Italian restaurant that even my Italian mother likes; 214 Front Street

Tribeca:

Bubby’s: a delicious, comfort-food style restaurant that’s definitely an NYC brunch mainstay. There’s usually a long line, but I think it’s worth it; 120 Hudson Street (DUMBO, 1 Main Street)

Kitchenette: definitely one of my favorite NYC brunch spots. Totally unassuming, this place has amazing home-style (you know, if your mom happens to be the best cook ever) food. My favorite brunch is the Lumberjack here; 156 Chambers Street.

The Harrison: This upscale bistro seems relatively simple, but it has incredibly well-executed food; 355 Greenwich Street.

Dean’s: a family-style Italian restaurant; 349 Greenwich Street

Soho:

Lure Fishbar: a cool restaurant that focuses on seafood. Inside, it looks like a giant boat and has a fun vibe; 142 Mercer Street

West Village

Otto: one of the legendary Mario Batali restaurants; 1 Fifth Avenue

Sushi Samba: part of the boutique sushi chain, it’s still a fun place for a birthday; 87 7th Avenue S

Gramercy:

Friend of a Farmer: a country-style restaurant with great brunch; 77 Irving Place

Pure Food and Wine: one of the NYC raw/vegan meccas. Upscale and with an inviting atmosphere; 54 Irving Place

Upper East Side:

Candle 79: the other NYC raw/vegan mecca. Incredibly executed food with a creative twist; 154 E. 79th Street
