What a fun weekend! Friday was awesome, but yesterday was even better.
After eight glorious hours of sleep, I woke up and putzed around for a bit before heading off to brunch. Jordan had invited me to a brunch party thrown by BrunchCritic.com, a site that just launched to help New Yorkers find the perfect brunch spot.
I mean, with categories like that, how can you not love it?
It was held at Park Avenue Tavern, a BAR WHERE YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWN BEER TAP AT YOUR TABLE. Do you realize how awesome that is? I need to go back there just to do that. I brought Lacey, Ashley and Shannon with me and we sipped on mimosas while getting excited for our evening. I had bacon and eggs and picked at the potatoes and toast.
Afterwards, it was time to get our hair did.
We went to Dramatics because I loved how they did my hair last year. The fabulous Foxy did my hair this time, and I totally recommend her for updos. I told her that I didn’t like my hair all up because I think I look bald like that, and she agreed and we found a great compromise in a half-up, curly style. I love how it turned out, and now I need to learn how to curl my hair with my flat iron.
Afterwards, we went to the Union Square Sephora for makeup. Natasha did my makeup, and I will definitely go back to her if I need to have my makeup done again. (Hi Natasha!)

We had to buy $50 gift cards in order to get our makeup done, but we didn’t have to spend them yesterday. I think it used to be free, so I was a little bummed to have to do that, but I can always find something to buy at Sephora!
The hair and the makeup was a pricey undertaking, but it was so worth it to feel pampered and ready for the ball. When Lacey and I got back to my apartment, all we had to do was put on our jewelry, makeup, dresses and grab our bags and go to The Plaza!
My committee and our awesome council head, Julie
Oh hey, just Mary J. Blige and Rep. Carolyn Maloney. No big deal. (By the way, Mary J. Blige is TINY!!! I had no idea how little she was.)
Since my committee’s been working on the PR for this event for quite a few months, we had to be there at 6:15 to help greet the press. Most of us just bought dessert/drinks/dancing tickets, so we had to figure out when to eat. Jen and I snuck out for a bit and ate mini roast beef sandwiches in the lobby of The Plaza in ball gowns. Obviously. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t one of my favorite parts of the night.
Oh, look who came after watching Bailey for me!
After the party is the after-party, which was in the Oak Bar at The Plaza. I somehow got a far bigger glass of champagne than Shannon did. Winning.
And after the after-party, we went back to Shannon’s and drank more champagne and ate McDonald’s and hung out until 5am.
This morning, Shannon, Jen and I met up and went to Westway Diner for some greasy food. After this wrap and some fries, I’m feeling a little tired but otherwise just fine. But omg, do I need some fruits and vegetables back in my life.
But I am sitting here smiling at this wonderful weekend I had in this wonderful city with wonderful people.
