Scallops or Scollops?

This is a fight friendly debate I’ve had with quite a few people—most from New England. Last night, at a Junior League dinner at Brassserie, I ordered scallops and my wonderful co-chair, when when we started talking about them, pronounced them scollops. I was surprised, because she’s from Georgia! I was convinced it was a New England thing.

One of the people who I engaged in this friendly debate with was Lindsay’s dad, when I went up to Maine to visit them after college. It turns out both of us are right.

I also saw the tree all lit up on my way over there!

So—do you call them scallops or scollops? And if you call them scollops—where are you from?

Lazy Sunday

Save for running 8.75 miles earlier, I had a super-lazy day—and it was wonderful. So lazy that I walked to Pump for some dinner, rather than making some leftovers. (I have a gift certificate to there!)
