Am I obsessed with bars?
(The kind you drink in, and the kind you eat?)
YES! Are there healthier snacks? Definitely. Anything you don’t make yourself is less healthy than something you prepare yourself. But some of the bars I eat are low on the processed ingredients, and Gnu Bars are among those. For example, these are the ingredients:
Gnu High Fiber Blendâ„¢ (whole rolled oats, organic whole wheat flour, wheat bran, organic kamut, psyllium, flax, millet), chicory root inulin, fruit juices, rice dextrins, dark chocolate chips (chocolate, cane sugar, lecithin, vanilla), cocoa powder, canola oil, plums, rice, wheat protein isolate, natural flavors, baking powder.
Not bad, right? And that includes both chocolate and chocolate powder! But what’s really great about these bars is the fiber. 140 calories, but 12g of fiber! 12! Half of your “recommended” daily intake (which varies by person, of course), but still a lot of fiber! And no, it doesn’t send you straight to the bathroom. But it does fill you up pretty much instantly. I had one of these bad boys a few weeks ago when I was light-headed from a lot of walking and not a lot of eating, and I felt full about 30 seconds after finishing them. 9g of sugar is also really good for bars, and this sugar is totally natural.
But the best part is that Gnu generously sent me a box to send to one of my lucky readers! The box has samples of each of their flavors.

Just comment on this post (about anything! The flavor you’d most like to try, what you like/don’t like about this site, what you had to eat today!) or, if you have a blog on Tumblr, reblog this post. I’ll use a random number generator.

Also, Kashi is doing free samples.
