Maybe you’ve seen the 7 Links meme going around the internets started by TripBase?
Details:
THE GOAL
To unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again.
THE RULES
1) Blogger is nominated to take part
2) Blogger publishes his/her 7 links on his/her blog β 1 link for each category.
3) Blogger nominates up to 5 more bloggers to take part.
4) These bloggers publish their 7 links and nominate another 5 more bloggers
5) And so it goes on!
6) Weβll be sharing the best posts from participating bloggers on our blog and everyday on Facebook and Twitter at #My7Links
Tina nominated me, and it’s hard to hide on the internet, so I guess I’m it.
More Beautiful:
I was incredibly tempted to go completely vain and put up some of my favorite pictures, but I’ll go for “deep,” and link to this one: I Can Do Anything I Want, But Not Everything I Want.
Most Popular:
I suppose, for a blog that started as a weight loss blog, it’s not surprising that my before and after, this is what works for me, where I started (very first post!) and basic nutrition guidelines I followed to lose weight are the most popular. I lost 50 pounds and a lot of you want to know how I did it. Or just creep my before-and-after pictures.
Before
After!
Most Controversial:
That whole Hollaback Health thing ended up being way more controversial than I expected.
Most Helpful:
I’ve gotten a ton of questions about how I started running, and I think this post is the most helpful.
Surprise Success:
My layoff story post is actually my next most popular post after the weight-loss related ones. I was so pleasantly shocked by the sweet comments, e-mails and tweets sharing my story got me and with the number of job leads y’all have passed on. (I still don’t have a new job, so…keep them coming ;))
Not Enough Attention: Like Monica said, having a blog is already getting more than enough attention! With that said…
I was incredibly passionate about the FHBC keynote with Shellie Pfohl, and I expected a little bit more discussion than the post actually got. This post was sort of a turning point in my recent blogging, though. It reminded me that if I want to be taken seriously as a blogger and a writer, I need to take myself seriously. There is absolutely nothing wrong with food pictures, but I also want to elevate the dialogue here when possible. My background is in journalism, and I’m incredibly passionate about health, so I want to start bringing more helpful information to my readers (without boring them, either.)
Most Proud: Running my first marathon. Obviously.
I nominate…
Ashley from Healthy, Happier Bear
Beth from Beth’s Journey
Lizzy from Food to Run For
Heather from Side of Sneakers
Becky from Beck on the Run (or Beckon the Run, as I like to call it.)
Questions:
If your blog started as a weight loss blog, but now you’re maintaining, do you still consider it a weight loss blog?
I’ve written quite a few posts since in the past 2.5 years. Are there any posts that particularly resonated with you? I’m going to update my Favorite Posts page, and I’d love to have your favorites there, too, not just mine.
I’m always looking to make my blog the best it can be. Be totally honest (eek.) What do you love about my blog? What do you… like maybe just a little bit less?
Aww thanks for the nomination! I’ll definitely do a response to this one next week.
And to answer your question, I do consider my blog a weight loss blog, but also a healthy lifestyle blog. I started it after I had already lost most of the weight, but I think the fact that I am in maintenance mode is just another part of the whole weight loss journey!
BECKON!!! I love that. You are so wise suga.
Thanks for nominating me… xoxoxo
Ok, what I love: your daily posts, writing style, the “close to home” factor.
What I don’t love: to read the comments you have to reload the page, or at least I do :0 and this is critical and obviously not a deal breaker, and so not meant to sound nasty at all, but I don’t love that I have asked a few questions that have gone unanswered…it’s weird when a blogger responds to their friends, but leaves other commenters questions unanswered. Sooo, while I still don’t get how the cookie dough oats are “cooked” I’m not going to stop reading because of it…plus I get awesome restaurant pics from you π
Nice, this is a really cool idea!
Your marathon post is by far my favorite post – every time I read it, it brings me to tears. And makes me think that maybe, just maybe, someday I could run a marathon too…
Will you be offended if I say I love your dog pictures the most? π
@Michelle: NO! π I can post more Bailey pictures!!
Don’t change a thing. I love the mix of fitness, family, job search… life.. the full package π
Nice blog here! Also your web site loads up very fast!
What host are you using? Can I get your affiliate link
to your host? I wish my site loaded up as quickly as yours lol
