August is Going to Be Awesome

Hey, remember when I used to blog every day? Multiple times a day? How the hell did I find time to do that?

Last night I attended a very lovely party where I took zero pictures because there don’t need to be pictures on the Internets of me after an open bar.

You’re welcome.

As I mentioned last weekend, I didn’t make many plans for July because my next few months are booking up crazy quickly already.

But with all stuff I really want to do. As I’ve become more busy lately, I’m trying really hard to say no to things I’m not dying to do. You know, where I have an option. I’m not dying to do dishes, but I can’t really say no to that.

So here’s a look at some of the awesomeness coming up in August:

BlogHer. To be honest, after going to three conferences last year (Fitbloggin‘, Healthy Living Summit and Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference), I was a little blog-conferenced out. But with BlogHer (probably the largest and oldest blog conference) in NYC this year, I couldn’t not go. Plus, I’ve always been curious about it and I’m really excited to meet other non-fitness/healthy living bloggers (no offense, guys) and learn more about social media to help both this little blog and help me at work.

It seems like just a behemoth of a conference. I’m pretty outgoing–I went to Healthy Living Summit a few years ago for the first time knowing only Ashley–but this conference definitely seems overwhelming. Any tips from any BlogHer veterans?

Healthy Living Summit. I wasn’t originally planning on attending, but I was asked to speak on a panel and couldn’t say no. I know it will be a ton of fun, though.

Color Run. It will be a ton of fun.

Other than those three big things, there will also be lots of running, lots of Junior League meetings preparing for the upcoming year and I hope another few beach days.

Like everyone else in the world, I’m also really excited for the Olympics, especially track, swimming and gymnastics. If you’re watching the Opening Ceremony tonight, here’s a funny drinking game I found.

Because I’ll never get sick of Call Me Maybe videos…

Are you going to either of these conferences? I’d love to meet you! What fun stuff are you doing in August? Which Olympic sport are you most excited for?

Your August sounds amazing!!! I’m waiting for my husband to get back from work so we can see the Opening Ceremony together and it’s killing me!! I’m most excited about the cycling road race (I’m British, we hope to win it), the gymnastics too, the track and the archery (due to Katniss).

However my August will be most amazing as my parents fly into California, where we live, on Thursday. Haven’t seen them since March. Cannot wait. We’re off to Wine Country and Yosemite…and I get to hang out with my Mum and Dad. It’s going to be a FAB August.

Fun August!! Can’t wait to hear about the color run, I missed the one in Seattle. I’m a) most excited about the 1500m Men’s race because Coach’s son is running it (it feels like he was an Eagle, even though he goes to Oregon), but in general I can’t wait to watch all of the track events. b) also incredibly busy in August, and it’s hard to pick what i’m most excited about! Got 1) Lululemon half in Vancouver (love it there!!) 2) a bachlorette party in Colorado, 3) Hood to Coast and 4) Cheering on my bro-in-law for the North ultra trail du Mont Blanc in France. So August is insane but awesome, best month of the year! I’m going to FitBloggin in Sept and I’m super nervous, first blog conference, eek!

I am going to HLS this year. I could not pass it up since I live in Boston. I am not a blogger but I love reading them and yours is one of my favorites. So excited to go! I have never been to one before…any advice? Cant wait to hear you speak on the panel. 🙂

@Gia: Oh, yay! Excited to meet you.

I’d say my advice is: people are really really nice, so don’t be shy! Also, don’t feel like you need to go to every panel–sometimes the most fun I’ve had at these conferences has been blowing off a panel and going for a walk or lunch with friends.

that video was kind of hilarious!
I went to HLS last year and REALLY wanted to go again this year but I have a big move on the horizon (maybe even to that same location…) so all money has to go to saving for the move. 🙁

Sounds like you’re going have crazy yet fun month on your hands. I’m not attending BlogHer (one of these years!) or HLS – saving all my conferencing for FitBloggin in September. Just remember to stay present in the moment – don’t let it all fly by without enjoy every minute that you can!
