Unwinding for the Holidays

Greetings from New Jersey!

Before I left yesterday morning, I got a quick sightseeing run in, inspired by seeing on Instagram yesterday morning that Kelly had done the same.

The stops: past the Solow building, where I worked for Chanel last summer; the Plaza; and the Rockefeller Center tree!

I wore that adorable jacket you see above. It’s a New Balance Windblocker jacket I got through work. (That link isn’t the exact one I got, but pretty close–AND ON SALE RIGHT NOW.) Its outer layer is wind and water-resistant, and it’s fleece-and-awesome lined. It was really chilly and windy yesterday and I wore this and the New Balance Minimus long-sleeved top and felt perfectly comfortable. I’ll post a picture of it soon, but I’m in serious love with that Minimus top. It’s fairly similar to the Lululemon Run Swiftly top, but at half the price and a more flattering fit for those of us who carry extra weight in their midsection. Win.

I’d been trying so hard to make my Christmas spirit happen (or fetch, whatever) but it was hard not to smile running past all of these sights.

I came home, packed and was picked up by my buddy Shannon and her husband to head out to NJ.

We did some errands during the day, and then my mom made a feast last night, starting with steak. I don’t remember the last time I ate steak, and I devoured every single bite.

And some salad to balance things out.

And potatoes au gratin to unbalance things out.

And stringbeans to balance things back out again.

Today, I started and finished all of my Christmas shopping.

NOW I can finally unwind. I may start with a nap.

When did you start/finish your holiday shopping? How do you unwind over the holidays?

I had found some Christmas spirit and over the last couple days seemed to have lost it again. i’m hoping I can find it tomorrow before our Christmas party and if not, I’m hoping a quick trip to the gym will help me at least de-stress and be in a better mood for the party…

I love your jacket – especially the colors! I basically started and finished my Christmas shopping today because it is so much easier to go shopping in the suburbs than the city! I’m glad to be done with it all now, though – including the wrapping! It is time to unwind for me, too. Glass of champagne and all 🙂

I started my holiday shopping right after Thanksgiving and finished about a week after that. I try to get it done as soon as possible. I have a few stocking stuffers to pick up today but that’s about it 🙂

I’m glad you loved that run as much as I did! that tree makes me ridiculously happy. I haven’t “unwound” for the holidays yet… hopefully that will happen by this afternoon and will consist of becoming fairly immobile on the couch, watching Love, Actually or Home Alone and eating a lot of cookies. Hope you have a great Christmas, lady!

I did my holiday shopping early which was SO nice to have done and out of the way! I’ve enjoyed this weekend a lot more than I expected and things have gone so well! But, I’m not going to lie, I’m excited for presents 🙂

I run by those buildings at least once a week to avoid getting too bored of Central Park! 🙂 PS- I see you worked for Chanel; I have worked for Chanel for over a year now! You must have been at their other corporate building, 9 West 57th st? I work at the flagship boutique on East 57th Street. Come say hi sometime! 😉
