Wine Date

I have a few things I want to blog about, but sometimes I miss the old days where I just wrote about random crap on my mind…

I also read a lot of interesting stuff throughout the week that I want to share, but at work, I’m logged into all of our social media accounts, not my own, and it’s rarely worth logging out to log into my own accounts. #socialmediamanagerproblems

So, here’s what I’d tell you if we were having a glass of wine together right now.

(I just spent a good 15 minutes going down the rabbithole of old posts when I googled image searched “preppy runner wine.”)

Wolffer Estates

Please take me back to my happy place.

I typically try to alternate every busy or away weekend with a laying-low weekend but this one ended up being rather busy: a date both nights, going to Sweaty Saturday with my good friend Heather and then getting brunch with her pre-date, and then a visit from her this am for some clothes swapping, a run and my mom coming in to help me with some spring cleaning.

Ozeri Scale

I’ve been focusing on eating cleaner, being more consistent with my workouts and wining less, but I really need a scale to keep me honest and have an idea of where my weight is. Valerie said she liked it, and I like that it measures hydration and fat, even if I know those won’t be the most accurate measures. It comes tomorrow, and I’m psyched/dreading it.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT. I don’t watch TV (canceled my cable at least a year ago because it was a colossal waste of money for me), but every once in a while I stumble on a great Netflix series, and I LOVE this one. It’s written by Tina Fey (so of course it’s amazing), and is about a girl who was stuck in an underground bunker for 15 years and comes out and moves to NYC.

A look inside my office. Someone tweeted this at us, and I think it’s really cool! Also, of course, it’s smaller than it looks in the photos.

Awesome read on moderation from my blogger buddy Gina

I’m proud of Anne for standing up to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for endorsing crap Kraft cheese singles

Cynthia Rowley Lip Stain

This Cynthia Rowley lip stain. I had drinks the other night with a friend who works at Birchbox, and she kindly brought me along some swag from her office. This lip stain is no joke.

NewImage

Alex and I have the same wrap sweater, and we keep wearing it on the same day. It’s getting kind of ridiculous. Especially because we sit across from each other. It’s like looking in the mirror (except the mirror is a little off and shows me someone younger and with red hair. So, not at all.)

My best friend is getting married this weekend! I am SO excited for her.

I’m going to take some classes at NYU in digital marketing, likely working towards a certificate. My role is shifting more towards marketing than straight content, and I’m excited to learn more.

I’m also trying to learn more about Snapchat, and I LOVE Grace’s Snapchat Stories. They’re a fun mix of the cool stuff she does…and cute pics of her cat.

Tomorrow is National Puppy Day. I cannot wait for my Instagram to be taken over with cuteness.

On Burnout

I mentioned the other day that I’d be running the NYC Marathon to raise money for the New York Junior League, and I’m SO excited to announce that my fundraising page is live!

TSC NYC Marathon

I’M IN!

So between that and a work campaign I launched today to give away an autographed Bob Harper plyo box (click here to enter), there’s lots of refreshing going on in my world right now.

My coach, Jess, is actually coaching our NYJL marathon team, and she spoke at our kickoff meeting last week. Running, Jess, NYJL. So many worlds colliding!

She did some talking about the marathon itself, and about how we’d be working together as a team. But for someone who still can be a very all-or-nothing kind of person, something she said about burnout really struck a chord with me.

In the years that I ran marathons, I typically ran a spring half and ran a string of shorter races from March right up through the marathon. Finally, in 2013, after four years of this cycle, I hit some colossal burnout. I took last year off from running any races for a time goal and just ran “for fun.” By the end of the year, I was ready to start chasing goals again.

I’m back in wanting to sign up for ALL THE RACES, but I am going to do it as intelligently as I can: taking a good look at how they fit into both my life and my race goals. Jess talked about taking some time between Brooklyn and our official marathon training start in late June to not be training for anything.

Which means I’m skipping the More Fitness (/Shape)(<< any other mags/former mags wanna get in on that one?) Half for Lilly at Target and the Franklin Lakes Triathlon in favor of not having any races in June. Priorities, yo. But I’ll still be jumping into the Hudson in July; I just won’t be trying to PR at all. I will say that I am excited to get back outside on my bike when (if?) the weather ever warms up.

And you? What’s your race strategy this year? What are your goal races? Have you ever had racing/running burnout?
