I’ve partnered with Munchery for this post. You’ll definitely understand why after you read this post!
A few weeks ago I got an email asking if I wanted to check out Munchery, a new meal delivery service that just launched in NYC. As a busy single working professional, the answer was obviously yes!
I typically work until at least 7, and by the time I get home and walk Bailey, the last thing I want to do is take time to cook something that takes a long time. I’ll typically throw together something quickly or Seamless more often than I’d like to admit. I am Seamless’ number one fan, and after years of eating healthily, I know how to scan a menu for healthier options, but you still don’t really know what you’re getting.
Munchery is a startup that launched in San Francisco last year and delivers fresh, pre-made meals. There’s typically about eight to ten meals to choose from daily, and you can select your meal up to a week in advance. They employ their own chefs, so all of their meals are developed in-house, with chefs coming from places like Pure Food and Wine and Daniel.
I know I’m not alone in having allergies and other dietary restrictions, and their site makes it really easy for you to find what’s, for example, nut-free or dairy-free.

And if your allergy isn’t a typical one, they list out all ingredients, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

Though I don’t count calories, I do like having a general idea of what I’m eating, so I like that they are very transparent about the nutrition facts of their meals.

The above information, FYI, was for a thyme-roasted striped bass. And the meals and the service are both really reasonably priced, too. Most meals range from $9-15, but with most between $9-12. If you’re a grazer, which I sometimes am, you can also just get a few sides. While the delivery fee ($2.95) is more than Seamless, I think it’s well worth it for fresh, delicious food that I didn’t have to make.

I’ve so far tried out Munchery for two meals — a honey-tea braised chicken thigh and sushi.

This was DELICIOUS! And I was able to prepare it in the microwave within five minutes for less than 700 calories, I believe.
My ONLY gripe with Munchery is that it’s not the best option for a last-minute dinner — you do need to plan a little further in advance or things will sell out. The company was kind enough to hook me up with some credit, but there is no doubt in my mind I will be using this on nights that I want a better option than Seamless.
If you live in NYC, San Francisco or Seattle (their current three markets), you can get $15 in credit to try it by using this link: https://munchery.com/redeem/PreppyRunner or just the code PreppyRunner.
What are your biggest meal prep/dinnertime hurdles? Would you try a service like this?
