Rest + Relaxation

I’m kind of bad at actually resting and relaxing at home. (On vacation, with a tropical drink in hand? Sure.)

I’m always doing something–cleaning, blogging, catching up on something on my to-do list.

But I have the beginnings of a cold, so last night, I didn’t clean. I didn’t blog. I didn’t do anything productive. I laid on the couch and read a book.

And ordered some takeout, since being sick makes me really hungry for some reason. I got sweet and sour tofu from Zen Palate, a vegetarian restaurant. This satisfied my Chinese food craving without being too unhealthy. I wouldn’t call it healthy, but it’s definitely made with more quality ingredients than regular Chinese food.

I actually had a second lunch, too, since chicken noodle soup didn’t even come close to satisfying my hunger. I had a hot Italian Margherita wrap from Pret, and it was amazing–once I took out the olives.

Does being sick make you really hungry, too? What’s your favorite food when you’re sick?

I do get hungry when I am sick! I think it is because I see food as comforting. I am the opposite of you at home — all I do is lay in bed and can’t bring myself to summon the energy to the things like blogging or cleaning. If you’d like, I would pay you to come to my apartment and clean/organize it for me. I am being serious.

@Dori: And I’ve officially turned into my mother. People ask her that all the time. However, let’s be real here–I do a lot more blogging than cleaning!

I turn into a big baby when I get sick. I’d call someone, most of the time my Aunt, and sound miserable over the phone with the hopes that they would come and bring me ice cream and sprite. (I miss being sick, for this reason alone. LOL) But if it’s a really bad flu, i usually just curl up with an pitcher of water on the bed side table.

Being sick makes me feel like I need to baby myself more than anything else. 🙂 I try to stick with mostly fruits, veggies, and lots of liquid to fight off anything that may be lingering!

I am always grateful with my mom because she always takes care of me when I’m sick. The only thing that I like about being sick is that I tend to lose some weight. But, most of my friends would say that I usually put it back once I recover from being sick.

    Thanks for sharing your story.
