One of my absolute favorite workouts in New York is a Physique 57 class.
I first tried Physique last year and fell in love. The class moves really quickly, and before you know it, you’re almost done and doing the cool-down. My wallet is thankful that the studio is not right around the corner from me, or I would go a lot more than I do.
So when Ashley said she was setting up something with Physique and Well + Good for BlogHer, I was psyched.

They could have given us any instructor, but we got to take a class from Tanya Becker, the founder. She had twins just a few months ago but still looks amazing.
I’ve taken Physique a handful of times, but this was the hardest class I’d ever taken there. I don’t remember the class as being slow, but I certainly don’t remember all the intervals we did this time. Meghann and I had run 5 miles in the morning and my legs were exhausted, so they started quivering quickly.
Oh, and Tanya and I had the same shirt on. I got mine hemmed because I had a short torso.
For a girl who moved to the city overweight, working a boring job and not knowing anyone four years ago, I had to pinch myself that I was getting to take a private class with a bunch of other bloggers with the founders of one of the hot fitness studios.
Great, you say. I don’t live in New York, and I can’t do this fancypants class you talk about.

Awesome giveaway! I have never tried the class and have always wanted to! I love that you are able to do reviews of fitness classes, it helps me decide if I want to do them as well!
I would like to see more motivational stuff about fitness. I miss your race recaps (but maybe that is because you are not racing just now…). I need a kick in the pants fitness/diet wise–yeah giveaways.
@Emily: I miss race recaps, too! I got a little burnt out on racing, though, and committing myself to things every weekend. Also, summer races kind of suck. But there will be more race recaps definitely come fall.
Tweeted it! π
…and Pinned it!
I’d love to see more of the “in the city” side of the blog! I love hearing about all your NYC adventures, be they fitness related or not! π
I am loving your MCM training week by week!
I’m a fairly new reader (found you through Meghann’s blog). Would love to see more of your daily eats and fitness adventures. As someone who’s lost a significant amount of weight myself, I’m always looking for new and exciting ways to keep the diet clean and the fitness dirty. You always hear about how challenging it is to lose weight, but I truly believe it’s harder to maintain a weight loss. Looks like you’re doing an awesome job of it! π
I’ve been too cheap to take the class but I really want to. Maybe I should just go for it? Sounds like it’d be totally worth it π
I’d love to see more of your healthy recipes! And like someone before me, love the MCM training posts! Thanks.
I never comment, but I am a regular reader! I LOVE reading more about your life in NYC (restaurants, etc) because I love your city.
I also tried a Physique class when I visited in June, and I LOVED IT!
I also tweeted – I’m @CompilationTape

I’d love to hear more about free things you do in NYC – I’ve just moved into the city and am going to be a student so will need all the advice I can get! I’m dying to try Physique 57 but my budget will definitely not allow it so winning this would be great!
I also tweeted this.
Enjoy your blog. Love seeing a balance of running, other fitness, and diet/food articles. More of the same.
I would totally freak out if I won this! Looks like SO MUCH FUN!
Like others, I always like to see more recipes and other meal ideas you have!
Love your blog! Maybe some of your healthy recipes would be great!
Tweeted just for you, oh, yeah , um and for a chance to win that awesome prize. @Cronfest
i would love to try this class! i would love to see more lunches + work snacks
I would love more recipes. We don’t have trader joes or any other great stores so I would love more detailed recipes. I love all your fitness details it always inspires me. And also more posts on favorites of any kind I love your reviews and you telling us what you like.
I love when you share your struggles as well as your triumphs. It is so nice to know that other people there are working hard at living a healthy life and that we all slip up sometimes.
And I added a pin to my “I like to move” board!
I’d love to see more heads-up-type posts about fun fitness things going on in the city. I love the wrap-ups, but would also love to try to make it to some!
Thanks for the chance to win a great new workout DVD. Being a lover of all things NYC, I would like to hear more about your running adventures and other NY related outings.
I’d love to see more of your lifestyle – being healthy in a city like NYC. I don’t live anywhere remotely close and am dying to go there sometime so I need to live vicariously through you. π

I would love to hear more about living in NYC and healthy eats/fun things you do in the city π
I would love to see more ideas for easy, healthy lunches and other healthy recipes.
@Jen: I would love more ideas for easy, healthy lunches, too…but I usually either pick something up (my wallet is yelling), eat a frozen meal or eat leftovers.
I’m new to the blog but I’d like to see some recipes/food ideas for breakfast, lunch and snacks. It seems like it would be hard to stay away from meals out and happy hours living in NYC, so I’d also like to know your thoughts on how to make it through that sort of thing.

More NYC fitness class reviews
I personally love when you talk about fitting in exercise with working full time (or more!) and also having a social life – something I struggle with myself.
I would love to see more of your dog! How hard you work to fit exercising into your busy life helps motivate me.
I’d love to hear more about fitting exercise and a healthy diet into busy NYC life, since I’m trying to do the same thing. Also, I like the suggestion about heads up for future events – that would be great!
I enjoy hearing about your runs!! I’ve been wanting to try Physique but alas, my wallet will not allow it…
Love 57! Keep up the great work !
I pinned your post!
More photos of you using bananas like telephones, please.
Ahhh, I’d love to this!! I think your blog is great- I’d like to see more about how you balance a busy work schedule with a healthy lifestyle….it’s such a challenge!
I’d love to see more of what you eat in a day on this blog! Love those pretty photos of smoothies; gives me inspiration to make more new smoothies myself π
Tweeted as well!
I’d love some more recipes/ideas on healthy eating…always need some inspiration!
And I’d love to win this too…
I’d also love to see more of the “in the city” side of things! I miss NYC so much.
Nice giveaway! Agree with another comment that maintenance is much harder than weight loss — so hearing more about your experience would be great. Also, I read a lot of general lifestyle blogs, so I always like home/fashion/culture posts.
I would like to see more tips for maintenance (I know a few have already said this, but I think that it is harder than the actual weight loss!) and maybe some posts about finding ways to keep running interesting. Races help, but I know I’ve been in a running rut and hearing from someone who seems to still have such a passion for running would help a lot!
Great giveaway! I’d love to hear more about your stretching and cross-training routine in between your runs!
I have always wanted to try one of these classes! I like to hear about your adventures out in NYC!
Love seeing more of what you eat!
Hi, I’ve been reading your blog for a little while since I found you through Tina’s recaps of your Reach the Beach relay (which was awesome by the way!)
I’d love to see more of how you eat out/socialise in NYC without comprimising your healthy lifestyle or missing marathon training!!
I would love to see more of your healthy diet and lifestyle and perhaps more pictures of your cute dog π
Great giveaway! I think this DVD would be a great break from race training this Fall and a new kick in the butt!
Love this giveaway! I really like your candidness, and I love hearing about your NYC adventures since I miss the city!
I would love to see more restaurant reviews/healthy restaurant options in the city! And pictures of food. Do you see a trend here?
I’ve always wanted to try physique 57 but never had enough time when I visit NYC – would love to win the DVD. I enjoy your blog & appreciate that you do not post everything you eat & every single workout – blogs like that are very mundane. I would like to see more of your adventures in NYC (junior league, night life & fitness etc!).
As a fellow NYC-er, I’d love to hear more about how you navigate healthy eating when you go out to dinner. I find that it’s easy to eat healthy when I’m home but when I go out to dinner in NYC, there are so many great options, I find it hard to figure out what to eat and what’s healthy. Love your blog!
i live in New York too so I love hearing about how you balance nutrition with always being tempted to eat out!
This is an awesome giveway! I really love when you take different classes and share your reviews of them with us.
Personally much more interested in your workouts than food! I guess from reading all these comments, you can please someone with anything you write! Great position to be in. π
To be honest, I love to see posts about your life in NYC – NYC is one of my favorite cities ever and when I read posts about the city it reminds me of my last trip there in December (also when I got engaged).
Just started reading, so not sure of any suggestions. I did just start using P57 DVDs last week and love them! I would love to receive the second edition!
I would love to see more posts on how you improved your running speed. I’ve recently lost a lot of my speed due to an injury. Now that I’m back on the marathon training track, I would love to know some of your tips for getting faster!
I tweeted about the giveaway! @thehuskylife
Pinned it!!
And tweeted π Thanks for the chance to win!!
Tweeted (@blakesachs), pinned and would love the chance to win!
I like it when you document what you have been eating. I tend to eat the same thing over and over and getting to peek at what you eat gives me meal ideas.
I wouldn’t mind seeing more of what you eat on the blog — especially since you are busy a lot of the time and eat out/throw together quick meals at home. I could use some inspiration π
Awesome giveaway! I’ve looked into purchasing the DVD before but never got around to it. I’d love to see more about how you keep your diet in check while dining out. That’s my biggest challenge as I try to lose weight.
I’d love to see daily eats once in awhile. Even if it is takeout or whatever. As someone who struggles to maintain a loss it’s always great to see what other really active people eat.
I’d love to hear more class reviews and workout variations! I love running but I can feel myself getting bored with it. I love your blog!
Would love to see more class reviews. Great giveaway thanks.
I also enjoy seeing daily eats and workouts! including tips for dealing with struggles.
GReat recap of the Physique57 event!
I love food and fitness blogs, so I’d really like to see more about day-to-day diet and fitness. (And, of course, gratuitous food porn shots!) Good luck with MCM training!
I love seeing your reviews of NYC restaurants and bars. You live in the most fabulous city on earth, I’d like to see more of it.
Looks like a great class- you’re so lucky! Physique 57 is exactly what I need after my 10 pound vacation weight gain! ACK!!! (Also tweeted!)
as an nyc girl i love all the city posts things to do / try fitness or otherwise

Thanks for posting- I have been hearing great things about physique 57- eager to check it ou!
I would love to see more on how you motivate yourself. And more Bailey wouldnt hurt either π
daily eats and day to day adventures of NYC.
I love this giveaway! I’d love to see even more of your workouts – I’m so inspired when I see the different types of workouts you too – and love trying to do my own versions of your strength or treadmill etc. workouts. Keep ’em coming! I need the motivation!
I’d love to win! I’d like to continue to see your fantastic dry sense of humor shine through in your blogs…and of course, I look to you for inspiration for weight loss that stays lost!
Tell us more about maintenance – i’m sure tracking all your meals may be a bit over the top, but maybe once per week, share your meals for that day?
I’d also like to hear more about maintenance. As someone who lost 25-30 lbs. to get to a happy weight, I sometimes struggle with wanting to maintain that weight but at the same time, live a social, happy life.
