These Are a Few of My Favorite Things [Right Now]

I’m working long hours and am really busy outside of work, so I’m all about the small pleasures right now.

Here’s a few things that are making me happy right now.

Green Tea. I am a coffee person through-and-through, though I gave it up last year when I was unemployed and my stomach hated me. A few months ago, I felt myself falling into a second-cup-in-the-afternoon habit, which is obviously just a gateway drug to…more coffee? But sometimes in the afternoon, I just want a snack or to take a walk, and then I get distracted by Starbucks. The other day, I decided to grab an iced green tea. I vaguely knew they were good for me but wasn’t really sure why. Turns out it has lots of antioxidants and stuff and–at least anecdotally–it’s good for anxiety too because of the L-Theanine present. It’s part attitude, but I’ve felt so much calmer this week. Green tea?

Eye Gel. I think Ashley blogged about this a few weeks ago, and as soon as I read that, I realized that, shit, I’m turning 30 in February. Perhaps I should invest in a good eye cream? Luckily, I was going to Mohegan Sun where I could dip into Sephora after a few glasses of wine and buy some. Tipsy makeup shopping? Best part of Mohegan Sun.

Moccasins. I had a huge campaign launching on Cyber Monday at work, and I was incredibly stressed. Some people read celebrity gossip when they need a little break, and some people buy moccasins? These are Minnetonka, because I wasn’t about to spend $100 on a pair of slippers for Uggs, but these make my feet so happy walking to work. Or any time there’s nobody in the office.

BB Cream. I got a sample of this Dior BB cream when I bought the eye stuff, and I love it. It’s so much lighter than the foundation I usually wear…and so much more expensive. Fail.

What are your favorite things right now?

I am totally buying those Minnetonka moccasins for when I start work in the fall. When I was at my firm this past summer my feet were always freezing if I stayed there late into the evening, even in the summer, and few people were there to judge me choosing comfort over style anyway.

Yeah for Minnetonka – made in Wisconsin!
It’s never too early to start using good face products. I’m a firm believer in face serum, a good cream, eye cream, and night-time cream and eye balm. Bobbi Brown is my favorite.

My Ugg boots – a gift, because I can’t bear the price tag – sit atop my Fave Things list when the weather turns chilly. Joining them in the top five right now are:

St. Arbucks Peppermint Mocha Via; instant happy.

The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector; soothes dry skin like nothing else.

Curry powder on popcorn; seriously, try it.

Running in a Sport Kilt. I’ve become that girl who runs in a kilt, and it makes me smile.

I do not drink coffee and I love green tea from Starbucks. It is the best. If you have a kuerig at work you can get the pods and put it on ice. It is my favorite. We love Minnetonka and uggs here. I love keihl’s eye cream. And when you are older like me look into dr Dennis gross. His products are so good. I use sunscreen like crazy but have Irish skin so the sun damage has added up even with a ton of protection.

This isn’t realling a “thing” per se, but I have a recent obsession with the TV show Nashville. SO good, and I didn’t even like Hayden Panettiere before I started watching it. Now I’m a total convert. And Instagram. I’m a little late to the game (joined a couple months ago) and am full-on addicted.

Can’t wait to bust out my Uggs! Too bad it’s still 80 degrees down in Texas…

Starbucks is making me happy! We’re in Tokyo and the cakes here are totally different to the US and are out of this world. I’m also very happy to be safe after yesterday’s earthquake! Good excuse for TWO cakes this morning!!

I get a venti green tea at Starbucks a few times a week. Love it shaken without any sugar! Have you tried Ultima drink mix (I get it at whole foods)? It’s like emergen-c without the sugar.

The moc slippers are so cute. I have some by EMU that were expensive, but I bought them after Christmas last year so they were really marked down.

I just started using the BB Cream by Smashbox. It’s great for me as I don’t love a face covered in base. I tried the Dior, but it was kind of yellow and also the $$$. The Smashbox is great!
