My Secret Snack Obsession ( + Giveaway!)

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Jack’s Links.

I have lots of weird habits, guys. Just ask my coworkers who are lucky enough to spend 50+ hours a week with me. Or the friends who are lucky enough to travel with me.

One of the things I’ve learned about myself over the years is that if I don’t eat the right way for me, I get HANGRY.

As someone who works out a lot, that means PROTEIN. No sweet, carb-based breakfasts for me — get some eggs in my belly! I also make sure my lunch choices have plenty of protein to help my muscles recover from the torture I put them through from all my various fitness pursuits AND to keep me full.

Jack Links Jerky

I have a generally awesome life, and I’m lucky that I’m not sitting at work waiting for the day to be over…but I’d really be lying if I didn’t say the highlights of my work day were lunch time and snack time. I usually eat pretty late, so an afternoon snack that will keep me full is really important and often is the difference between overeating/grazing at night and eating a normal-sized meal.

My favorite treat snack is jerky. It’s not cheap, and I do usually eat an entire bag in one sitting, so I save it as a treat. But even if I do have a whole bag of three servings, it’s only about 240 calories which is in the ballpark of any other snack I’d have, and is completely satisfying, with 11g of protein per serving. And far less awkward than eating a random chicken breast at my desk.

This new Jack Link’s chicken jerky is GOOD. Like, rationing it out for myself so it lasts longer good.

My secret snack obsession is eating baby food pouches. When I started training for Ironman I got sick of always eating “sweet stuff.” I noticed you could get the pouches in savory flavors and they are easy to eat and digest, score! I now keep a few packets around in case In get the munchies, very easy to store/carry.

I LOVE Jerky! Doesn’t everyone fill up their car with gas & buy Jerky when going on a road trip. I would love to try Jack’s Link!

I love jerky! It’s just so dang expensive! I tend to love peanuts for my snacks, though a co-worker recently gifted me a 2# bag of cheese cubes that I’m excited about working my way through…. one oz at a time. 🙂

I am obsessed with baby carrots – pretty sure my coworkers are ready to strangle me after listening to me chop on them all day long. Maybe jerky would be a nice quieter snack 🙂

Yogurt used to be my go to but more recently I’ve been doing dried fruit, nuts or hard boiled eggs.

I only had jerky for the first time last year and it was pretty good! These would be good on a long bike ride.

Sometimes I get these incredible cravings for turkey/chicken, so I’ll buy packages or deli turkey/chicken or freshly sliced turkey/chicken to enjoy (devour) straight out of the bag. Jerky (especially the softer and not spicy varieties) is another food I use to squelch my cravings.

I never thought of having jerky as a snack, but that’s a good idea! Kind bars are my snack of choice lately.

My go-to work snack is almonds! There are so many good flavors now, my favorites are salted caramel and coconut, by Blue Diamond. I always start getting stomach growls around 11am so I eat a few almonds to hold me over until lunch. I haven’t tried this kind of jerky but I want to!

Mmm I love beef jerky! I passed a farmstand with it on my way back from the mountains this weekend and it was basically the best thing I’ve ever eaten 🙂

Well I wouldn’t say I have any snack “secrets” , because everyone knows I love food! My one secret may be that I time out my food, to like the minute of when I am going to war throughout the day! My favorite thing to grab are nuts!

I have a not so secret obsession with popcorn. The best part of popcorn is that it takes on any flavor you add to it. Lately I have been adding old bay and coconut oil. It is BEYOND delicious.

I recently have been buying Nick’s Sticks (grassfed beef jerky) for the bf and myself to snack on … though regular ol’ jerky is better! My other snack/dessert obsession is a date stuffed with peanut butter topped with a few dark chocolate chips. I mean, is there anything better than pb and chocolate??

I always have trail mix or other protein-filled snacks with me. I’m a bit of a snack hoarder, and get nervous if I’m out and about without any snacks in my purse or car!

My favorite snack is German Quark. Ultra low in sugars/carbs/fat and high in protein. I believe Elli’s Quark comes in at 16g Protein at 80cals, which makes it a perfect snack.

This by far isn’t the healthiest snack but on days when I can’t satisfy my hunger my snack of choice is a bowl of plain oatmeal with a scoop of peanut butter on top!

Dark Chocolate almonds are a snack of choice. I had some Jerky as an appetizer at Bottlefork in Chicago and loved it. I’d would love to try this jerky.

Bananas and peanut butter! No need to put it in a dish – just scoop some out and put on the tip of the banana before you take a bite! Sooo good!!

I like having a green smoothie and/or almonds as a snack. Lately I’ve been into the kids’ crackers a little too much. Maybe jerky would help with the carb munchies…

Cheese! With about anything. I try to eat measured portions and eat a range of other healthy snacks but I’ve gotta say I just love cheese.

I love popcorn. With seasoned salt. Or with cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Or with dried ranch mix. Or with parmesan cheese and salt.
