When I asked recently what all you wanted to see, I got a lot of requests for a day in the life post. I’ve done a few relatively busy ones, but maybe next time I’ll just do one where I’m lazy as crap. Because we all do have days like that sometimes. (Although I’m not sure how interesting: hit snooze too many times, chug 17 coffees, go to work, come home and snuggle with Bailey would be?)
If I had to be honest (and I think I do here, because that’s what I do..), today was an emotional rollercoaster.
5:45am: Alarm goes off. Let myself snooze for 5 minutes, roll over and check weather on phone.
All of sudden it’s winter in NYC, and I don’t like it.
6-615ish: Stumble around my apartment in the dark getting ready.
6:15-620: Walk over to the new Mile High (IT IS SO CLOSE YAY) to meet Ashley for a 6:30 class. I’m freezing, and there’s still sleep in my eyes.
6:30-7:15: Class. My hammies are also really tight for no good reason. You never regret a workout, etc, but this one was a total slogfest for me. Tomorrow may be a rest day.
Outfit c/o Victoria’s Secret Sport — more details tomorrow!
7:15 – 7:30ish: Sit and chat with Ashley because we both have a whole lot to catch up on.
7:30 – 7:35: Walk home. Dying for coffee but the place I want to go is one block out of my way and that’s two blocks total too far in the cold and I need coffee before my coffee apparently.
7:35 – 7:50: Spend a few minutes straight up vegging and a few minutes checking work social media feeds and responding to users who need responses.
7:50 – 8:00: Walk my furry little love.
8:00 – 8:30: Shower/get dressed/get ready. Contemplate if “sweater pants” are really code for PJs and if I should wear them to work. Decide that I might not work at a fitness company forever, so I might as well take advantage of the fact that I can wear athleisure. (OK fine, maybe these are just leisure…)
8:30 – 8:35: Spend a few minutes packing up my breakfast and part of my lunch (because I thought we’d have catered lunch at work and I wanted to just supplement part of it.) I’m two days into a solid clean eating cook and I’ve actually done some meal prep lately. Take a slice of this frittata to work. (<< More on what I’m eating once I’m a few more days into this kick.)
8:35 – 8:40: Tear apart my apartment in search of something I thought I desperately needed for the day at the time…but can’t remember now. Clearly, super crucial.
8:40 – 8:50: Walk to work and FINALLY GET MY COFFEE.
9:00 – 9:30: Watch our daily workout show and respond to our users across all of our social platforms. No, the irony that I am watching a workout show is never lost on me.
9:30 – 11: Meetings.
11 – 12:15: Frantically try to finish what work I can.
12:15: Leave, run home to take Bailey out and grab some warmer clothes + my laptop charger.
12:30: Jump on PATH train to head out to NJ.
12:50: Arrive in Hoboken, having just missed the train. Hail an Uber.
12:50 – 1:30: Work in backseat of Uber. Am uber (see what I did there?) thankful for having a job that is super flexible.
1:30: Arrive at salon where I’m meeting mom to be with her for her wig fitting. I know it’s an emotional day for her, and I want to be there to hold her hand and make her smile and laugh when I can. Our signals crossed and I sit there for half an hour waiting for her, working on my phone, while she is in the parking lot, thinking I’m not yet there.
2:00 – 2:45: Wig dude is the nicest, funniest guy and makes the process as tolerable as it possibly can be.
3:00 – 7:45: Stop for a quick lunch, head back to parents’ house for a bit.
7:45 – 8:45: Train back, catch up on some email.
8:45 – now: Get home, finish up emails, take a walk with my fur love again. (Also have him walked by a walker while I’m in NJ.) Eat some of the frittata + a few little meatballs + sweet potato for dinner, write this post. Immediately after this, I plan on putting on matching jammies with Bailey (JK I wish) and hopping into bed.
What does a day in your life look like? Or, what did your day today look like?
Such a busy day! That’s so awesome that your job allows you to be flexible, I think that is totally key. I am looking forward to hearing more about your kick/meal prep. I’m always looking for new ideas!
Thank you so much for this time today! I loved catching up and yes, we both needed it!
Loved reading this. Thanks for posting!
It’s so nice how flexible your job is, must be such a comfort to your Mom knowing you can be there.
Also, my sister is an instructor at Mile High now, Karli (she also teaches FlyBarre and it is kind of nice that she is at two studios I love to take advantage of)! I was there Saturday for the first day of classes – would love to meet you at one some time!
My day was soooo relaxing, 3 mile run, some tv, 2.5 mile walk to coffee, more tv, some laundry, some dishes, just a good relaxing day! Oh and doing interviews for new jobs (fingers crossed!)
Good luck!
Hugs to your mom!
You make me want to workout before work, but I am soooo not a morning exerciser!
From a reformed evening exerciser, I say DO IT!
Since I have a desk job, and I finally bought a fitbit, I’m now going to work from 7-5 and then getting my steps for the day around my neighborhood while enjoying the remaining christmas lights, making dinner, and watching a few episodes of BH 90210 on hulu. Yes, Beverly hills all 10 season is on hulu, and I now have a goal for the new year.
Hi Theodora. Good to know that even though you have a busy day, you never forget your early morning exercising routine. I always think of hitting the gym early in the morning, but end up snoozing the alarm and going back to sleep. Yeah! The laid-back attitude can really get me in a mess. But sometimes I do wish to pull up my workout paints and hit the gym. Well, I do have the option to start from tomorrow. Let’s see.
