End of February Coffee Date

Some nights, the last thing I want to do is touch my computer and blog; some nights, I feel like checking in but don’t have much to say, stare at the computer for a while, and ultimately waste time beating myself up for writer’s block.

I don’t have much to say tonight, to be honest, but I feel like chatting anyway, and here’s what I’d be talking to you about if we were having a glass of wine together right now. Well, I’m currently having a glass of Kim Crawford sauvignon blanc, so weΒ are having wine together if you’re reading this, yeah?

I’m happier and calmer than I’ve been in a long time. I got good news about my mom, I’m moving next week, and work is going well. (Ok, and I’ve been meditating more. They are totally related.)

Instead of belaboring them, I’ve made a lot of quick decisions about decorating my apartment. At the end of the day, it’s just stuff. I haven’t actually read that book, but I’ve been KonMari-ing the crap out of my apartment, and it’s so satisfying. Also, I found at least four of my favorite now-discontinued eyeliner, so the move is worth it if not just for that. But I’m still obsessing over duvet covers…I will likely never buy this one, but it’s adorable.

Although stepping back a bit from my Junior League responsibilities was the right decision at the time, my life definitely feels emptier without that in my life. I have a bunch of Junior League events over the next week or so, and I’m really happy and excited to see all of my people again.

My current fave workout, Fhitting Room, is offering a free workout with code RACKEDFHIT16Β for first-time clients. I got an email yesterday that they’re about to raise their rates, so GET ON THAT. (And take Dara’s class because she is the. best. Shameless plug that you can also catch her on DB 365 :))

I had to leave for work 1.5 hours earlier than I usually do Monday through today to get to our LIC studio early, and I’m super excited to get some more sleep tomorrow. HALLELUJAH.

What’s up in your life?

Finding the makeup is a huge win!
I too have been de-cluttering my room; and I need to get on reading that book asap.
Congrats on the move! I feel like it’s always exciting at first.
And so glad to hear good news on the mom front!

P.S. I have been spending 10 minutes a day in 2, 5 minute intervals meditating and am totally noticing how much calmer I am even though I am stressed about finding a job. It has done my mind and body wonders.

Discontinued beauty products – NO. Why do they do that? Redken recently discontinued a product I’ve been using since 8th grade. It is perfect, and several hairdressers/hair obsessed friends confirmed there is really nothing like it on the market. I have been scouring the internet scooping up bottles, but it is such a pain. And KonMari-ing is the best, feels great πŸ™‚ Glad to hear you’re in a good place right now, especially regarding your mom!

LOVE that duvet cover. So many of my family members have dachshunds, I immediately shared that with them! And thanks for the Fhitting Room code…totally going to pass that along to friends of mine who have not tried their amazing workout.

And glad to hear that you are feeling happy and calm πŸ™‚

Hi Theodora- long time follower here from New Zealand.
Glad to hear that you’re enjoying a lovely glass of sauvignon blanc from NZ; it’s one of my favourites too.
I really enjoy your blog, even though ( or perhaps because ) our lives are so very different…

Hi Theodora! I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog today! I LOVE that Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc so I knew I’d relate to your blog right away :). I recently moved as well and I went through the GREAT PURGE of all of my stuff. So cathartic!

It’s great to hear that you’ve been seeing the benefits of meditation lately just as I have… I’ve finally managed to stick with it for the past week and I can already see and feel the changes. I’ve tried to start meditating so many times in the past but could never stick with it because the benefits weren’t immediate, even though that’s dumb because I KNEW you had to do it for a while for it to do anything. But I just couldn’t get past that. Fortunately now I finally have, and it’s amazing. πŸ™‚
