Fri-YAY!

Despite it being my birthday last week, the four-day week at work after returning from vacation felt interminable. This week had so much fun stuff going on that it went super-fast.

Tuesday night, my coworkers and I went to THE DOG SHOW. I’d originally thought it’d just be something sort of fun we’d do together, but I underestimated how much I would have watching really cute dogs run around Madison Square Garden for three hours. Check out these backstage photos if you need a good smile today.

Wednesday night, I went to an event at Even Hotels Times Square South (as someone who used to live in that ‘hood, it’s more like Garment District, FYI.) Even Hotels is a new brand from Intercontinental Hotel Group (for you points junkies) that focuses on wellness with healthy restaurants, a huge gym and spa showers. They’re currently in Rockville, Md., Norwalk, Conn., and this location but are planning to expand to other urban locations. The event, co-sponsored by Well + Good, had yoga and meditation mini-classes. We tried a short Mndfl meditation (REALLY hard to meditate in a loud hotel in the middle of NYC during an event but learning how to be present in those situations is important too) and took a Y7 class. Cool event, and cool hotel brand I’d check out if I were in a location where it was an option.

I also snuck out at lunchtime that day to try out Uplift Express, a new-to-me class that combines all of their formats. LOVED it! I’m also so proud that my Uplift ladies have opened on the West Coast in LA (West Hollywood, to be exact.) If you use the code NYC when you sign up, your first class is free AND if you buy a package, you will get 10% off any other purchase for the rest of the studio’s life.

I will be super honest: I’ve barely run this winter. No excuses, I’m just not really into winter running and haven’t had any races on my calendar. HOWEVER! Yesterday morning, I ran outside with my running buddy Alyssa who just came back from traveling the world and am excited to get back in the running swing of things now that I have a race on my calendar. Love these speed workouts from Janae.

Friday Faves

Love this really honest and open post that Grace wrote about dating.

The extent of my kettlebell expertise involves swinging it, so love this kettlebell workout from Tina.

An inside look at Instagram’s famous animals. This is so ridiculous, it’s hilarious.

23 ways to treat yourself without buying or eating anything << truth. Sometimes you need some self-care but know that spending/eating isn’t always it

That said…our Winter Ball is coming up, and I need a dress! I’m looking at Rent the Runway again, and here’s my current faves: Nicole Miller Tempted by You, Badgley Mischka Flora Chiffon (because I’m a sucker for green) and Monique Lhullier Tena Gown because I’ve never done something dramatic. I love me a red gown, but my friend Courtney is one of the honorees, and she’s wearing red and people already mistake us for sisters, so that’s out.

I’m OBSESSED with Facebook Audience Optimization at work. You can choose specific audiences that will be most interested in your content. For example, for a blog post about NYC Marathon training, I might choose running, marathons, and NYC Marathon as interests. I’ve seen some awesome results with it at work.

You watched the Olympic Trials last weekend, right? I’m STILL touched by the Shalane/Amy Cragg friend love.

LOVE this mist in our bags at the W+G event.

How was your week/what are you loving right now?

The dog show!! I bet that was so much fun. Love your link roundup – especially the 23 ways to treat yourself that aren’t food or shopping & dating in your thirties. Even though I’m not 30 (yet), that post really hit home!
