Having friends running the same race is awesome. It totally distracts you from pre-race nerves–sometimes so much that you forget you’re running a race the next day.
This morning, I guzzled some water, walked over to my friend Shannon’s to borrow her bike, walked Bailey and headed to Friend of a Farmer to meet up with Tina, Caitlin and Ashley for breakfast bright and early. Friend of a Farmer can have a really long wait, but we got there early and sat right down.
Bloggers will be bloggers.
I ordered the healthy farmer’s omelette, which had spinach and feta. (It’s like the spinach feta wrap I love so dearly, minus the wrap part.)
My stomach was feeling a little unsettled, so I ordered some toast on the side.
Afterwards, Tina wanted to do some sightseeing, and I suggested she walk up 5th Ave, so we walked together for awhile and then I walked the rest of the way home by myself…
After changing into some workout clothes, I met up with another friend for what ended up being a really long bike ride–we biked to the George Washington Bridge and back–a approximately 20-mile bike ride. My lady bits hurt. Shannon’s bike (and my bike, which went out to N.J. for the winter) is a mountain bike, and my legs were a little tired from all that extra work. I may invest in a road bike or a hybrid sometime soon. I took two awesome pics of the bridge, but my iPhone ate them. :-/
After a 20-mile bike ride, I was ravenous. I ate some sunflower butter on a bagel thin while deciding what my next move would be. Tina had said she wanted a beer, so I suggested we go to Ginger Man since it’s equidistant to our hotels, and has a million beers. And I like it.
We sat and gabbed for three hours about everything from family, dogs, food and health and probably could have talked for another three, but I had to leave to go to the Upper East Side to meet up with Laurel and Lacey for a trivia dinner at Laurel’s church.
It was all Carribean-themed, and I had rice and beans, chorizo, pork and a biscuit, and now I am getting into bed to rest up for this race. I’m excited that I am able to run three half-marathons in a row, but I’m not gonna lie, I can’t wait to be done tomorrow. Wish me luck..
