Tonight, I had some chicken franchese, broccoli and rice for dinner.
(Gratuitous puppy + broccoli shot.)
It occurred to me as I was eating that this is something I absolutely would not have eaten two years ago (while I was trying to lose weight.) I ate lots of plain, steamed food then. I don’t think the guidelines Joel gave me ever specified no sauces on stuff, but it just seemed like the simpler, the better. Needless to say, I got really burned out by that. I’m still looking for balance, but I think I’m doing pretty well.
Tonight after work, I ran 5 miles. It’s the first and only time I ran this week (since I’m between races), and it was only so-so. I ran slower than my usual pace, and my legs felt a little heavy, but hey, I’ve run two halfs (halves? Still not sure.) in as many weekends. But still–a crappy run is almost always better than no run, and I feel more mellow than I did before I left. I’m glad it’s finally warming up, even if just a little bit, so I can run outside during the week again. I just couldn’t handle it during the winter.
Awww the puppy looks so soft!
Mmm….sauce…makes everything better!
So, I have a solution to the half/halves problem. I think you just always have to say marathon after it, in order to pluralize it. “Half marathon” it becomes “half marathons,” thusly, eliminating the half/halves issue. 🙂
Have fun in Vegas, we’ll miss you!
@Lacey: True, this does eliminate the problem.
